Default 2x15266 + lm317 power 445nm????!!!

so i just bought the dtr mohrenberg blue flashlight and i plan on using 2x16340

will it be enough? cause everyone's saying 3x10440 will not be enough for a 445nm cause of the low capacity

so will 2x16340 work? i believe the host only has room for a 18650, so its either 2x16340 or 2x18350, but 16340 is cheaper and if it does the job im good =]

i currently have this charger Focalprice.com offers Universal Lithium 16340/10440/14500/18650 9V Battery Charger ,discount Universal Lithium 16340/10440/14500/18650 9V Battery Charger,Universal Lithium 16340/10440/14500/18650 9V Battery Charger products, low price Universal Lithiu

its for charging my 10440s and i was wondering if it charges 18350s, if it does then i will definitely purchase some 18350s

let me know if anyone knows the best battery or solution, thanks!

Do these come off the charger at 4.2V each?
Than 8.4V should work fine for 445 + lm317.

yeah, my 10440s are 4.2V charged too

but apparently its not enough to keep the laser powering

so i was wondering if 16340s be enough

That's not accurate. I promise you.

I've powered 445nm diodes (also from DTR I believe), at 900mA, in the same host you're referring to, using an LM317 driver, and 3x10440 batteries.

It absolutely positively DOES work.

oooh dam kk thanks =]

but i am going to use a 1 ohm resistor for my lm317 driver so thats like 1.25 W of power

just to be sure... i think i should get some batteries with higher capacity perhaps?

DTR confirmed that 18650s will not fit, so 16340s, 18350s can definately not hold 2 of them

Here:
Li-ion 14250 3.6V 320mAh Rechargeable battery [2159] - US$2.78 : shenzhen-wholesale

If someone is willing to do a GroupBuy, these could probably be had for $10 per 2 batteries, after postage costs. Or perhaps at least $20 for 4 batteries after shipping. Not sure how that would work out, but it would be an awesome GB undertaking!

hmmm thanks, let me know if you find any other places that could possibly be cheaper, i dont think they even ship to canada

hey and at 300mAH, that wouldn't be much greater than a 10440 would it?

hey what about cr2 batteries

would that be enough to power a 445nm?

i think two of them make the size of an 18500, or the size of an AA so it would be perfect for my host

** i found some 15266 batteries

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultrafi...ies-pair-50483

assuming there 3.6V each, so when charged comes to 4V - 4.2V?

Default Re: 2x15266 + lm317 power 445nm????!!!

I hate playing the battery game like this which is why I usually just bite the bullet and get a felx/microboost drive. 10440s will work as rhd said but they will drain fast since they top out at about 350-500mAh. If you don't have a LiIon charger yet I'd scrap the LM317 driver for this build and get either a flexdrive or a microboost and a 22600 battery. You'll need the WF-188 charger too for those I think. DRT lists a couple sources (looks like the ebay link is still good otherwise check the seller's other items) for those batteries in this post.

1W 445nm Mohrenberg Hotlights Blue 18500/22600 Host Kit

You could PM him and ask what charger he uses but I'm pretty sure someone (jayrob?) said you need the WF-188 for those larger batteries. That charger will charge just about everything too. Wish I bought it so I didn't ended up with 3 chargers like I have now.

I have one of these hotlights hosts and for a lower powered build (like the PHR I put in it) an LM317 based driver works great but if you want to use a smaller host with a high powered diode and get decent run times spring for the right driver and a good battery.

CR2 batteries are usually too thick to fit where a AA would normally go.

@ltkernelpanic
hey, thanks for your reply, i know what you mean, i was initially thinking of getting a flexdrive but i only have exactly $100 on my paypal =]

i'm kinda on a budget and i was hoping to get this thing running for under $100

i'll just try and see first how it goes and in another build i will definitely consider a flex drive

@rhd
yes it is thicker than an AA

but DTR has got it working with an 18500, the CR2 should be thinner than an 18500
