Default >2A 445nm driver

I need a variable driver for a test platform able to go up to 2 A for 445nm diodes. Size does not matter just function. Any suggestions? Computer interface/control would be a plus for graphing along with a OPHIR LPM.

The Flexmod P3 is capable of 2A+ output and has many nice features. No data logging that I am aware of. Works for labbys and large handheld units.]

this is kinda cool if you want some pc control if you have a bit of knowledge you might be able to add pc data logging.

Are bench PSU stable enough for LD use?

I'd recommend you LM350 and computer PSU.
It's the cheapest way.

if you are worried about stable just add a 47uf cap and a .1uf cap to the end and that will stable the thing like a rock!
the 47 to hold back large spikes and the .1 to smooth out the small ones.
its a bit over kill but works great for everything not just lasers.

If a few caps to kill ripple and a bench psu work why does the following bother with a driver(has bench psu in one of the latter pics) How to set up the Flexmod P3 for a handheld laser

well most of the users would not want to lug a nice large bench psu around. we use them to calibrate the output for the "best driver conditions"
Also bench psus are not that bad as far as their output goes.
Some have on and off spikes but they can be fixed and are generally the very old models.
Truth be told you dont even need a cap on a lm317.
I have one with no cap and its been running strong for over 7 months.
Heck if you want to be "stupid" i know a few people who direct drive their laser. with just 2 aa and their lasers is running just fine... for now. i still call that stupid but leaving a cap of the 317s is not bad.

ok I think I have my answer now thank you. Now I just need to find a host for my LD that is easy to get at because I got a few hundred diodes to test..... any chance you got a suggestion for that as well?

Adapt the values, and you can push it til 20A without problems

Right ..... 1nF = 1 nanofarad ..... 1uF = 1 microfarad (= 1000 nF)

I don't have a specific PCB, cause i made them with the shape i need, time by time ..... if you have dimensions and component types (SMD or discrete) i think i can draw one for you, if you need .....

10−6 micro
10−9 nano
10−12 pico
10−15 femto
10−18 atto
10−21 zepto

Never buy capacitors rated at one yocto farad.
