Around 2 years ago in July, the lens of my Spartan melted due to extreme outside humidity. I hadn't even been running it for 10 minutes and I noticed that the host was getting hot. I cut it off for a while to cool down, and when I cut it back on to make sure it was okay, the lens was a jiggling mess. I don't even really care about it anymore, but it's just gathering dust, so I might as try something, but I have no idea how to open it to swap the old lens with a 405/445 AixiZ lens. Any help?

Hi there...

I'm sorry to hear about your spartan.

What you can try is getting the lens out without disambling the whole host.

First when trying anything of this stuff, remove the battery from the host! ^^

second you would have to remove the frontcap (wich is glued!)
So you might need some force to open it.

it will look like this.

I removed all glue on mine as you can see.

Bit closer look.

First you will notice the gold colored ring to hold the module in place.
I wouldn't fiddle with this.

Then beyond that you will see the actuall lens.
When looking at my lens on this photo, i noticed a bit of dust on it.
Have to take care of that now that i spot it on time ^^ afaik.

Here's the lens itself..

As you can see there are 2 small holes in it, so you would need a special plier tool for this kind of stuff.

With this tool you would be able to break the 3 dot's of glue tht secure the lens in place.

When you succeed, you will be able to get a new lens in there..
I would look for a Jayrob G1 lens. (search it on the forum)

Also if anyone can point out the name of this plier tool, would be lovely for myself aswell :)

Might could get away with using a drafting compass. Or very very very fine-tipped tweezers. Some people call it a spanner wrench, I think they use them for watches more commonly.
