Howdy all...
Just got my A-150 diode from DTR.
This is running of a Flexdrive set at 950mA...sorry dont have an LPM that goes high enough to measure.
The host is from Radiant Electronics
Hotlights
This is a good host and I love the side clicker. I did have to mod it a bit to fit a 18650. This included cutting the rear spring back and cutting the insert inside in half.
I know that many that got these diode mean to push them to the limit and with the build I have done i'm sure this could be done....I, on the other hand, still have a bit of a learning curve and am just happy to see the light come out the end:D
Here are some pics of the build....sorry some are not that great quality, i'm learning how to get better pics for ya'll!
First off Hats off to DTR, not only for the offer of these diodes for all to have fun with but also for his MANY helpful post and tutorials here on the forums. This build idea comes from one of his builds...link here...http://laserpointerforums.com/f51/flexdrive-driver-heatsink-continuous-driver-duty-cycle-1-5a-56404.html#post796360

And on to the pics.....

These are all the fixin's...host, coin(top part marked for cutting), clicker and insert, head, heat-sink, aixiz topper.

This is the quarter I used...I cut out the top to fit with the clicker and allow the positive connection to the driver. Also you might see that I had to cut the inside insert almost in half to allow fitting the 18650 battery.

[/IMG]

Here I cut the face end of the clicker contact. One to shorten it to keep it away from where the driver will be, and two to use on the other end for a little extra contact area for the positive of the battery.

Blurry photo of the attached wire for positive to driver and added extra for battery.

So here is the insert with coin attached and clicker on top. I should say to try to cut the insert as long as you can and still fit the 18650...this one is almost to short, but still works. This also allows you the room for the driver heat-sink setup.

I have skipped me setting the driver, soldering the diode and driver and will go to this. Here I have installed the insert and used a thermal paste to secure it in the host. The green wire is the positive lead to the clicker. The flexdirve is set on the coin heat-sink with thermal paste as well. I had to crimp the negative of from the driver between the heatsink and host, but it works.
(finally a half way good photo!:D)

And just to prove that it really does work!!

Thanks all for looking and again a big thanks to DTR for the diode and great ideas! :thanks:

P.S. as requested....here are a few more action shots!

Your killing us....I am really curious about the 150. Does the color look the same as the 130/140's? lol

And how does the laser beam look like ? Can you make a picture of the dot from the de-focused laser ?

Looks like some good work. Nice build.:D

One question is the coin in direct contact with the host walls?

thats a nice soldering station :) i wonder when someone *coughDTRcough* is going to see how far these can be pushed, vs. the a-140's and a-130's, as well as efficiency. very clean build!

The coin is in contact with the host wall, although its anodized inside. I used a generous amount of superglue and then thermal paste to seal the whole kit in there. There is a piece of electrical tape on top of the driver set-up as well, perhaps does nothing but may not hurt. At first it didn't fire up until I pinched the negative wire of the driver between the host lip and heat-sink.

Nice build! But we still would like to know if the 150 is the same as a 140?

I'm sorry I don't have the equipment to test that. Hopefully someone with a spectrometer and better LPM will come out with test soon. All I can tell you is that the beam looks to be the same wavelength by eye.

I think the diode is exactly the same as A140, they probaly just did improvements on the projector itself for now until A160
