Default 1.6W Rifle Spot and Light Discrepancies - Help!

Hey guys, hope everyone had a good Christmas full of family, drinks, and good times; be safe tonight on New Years'.

I own a Lazerer Rifle 1.6W and I've definitely been getting my usage out of it. However, as of late, I have noticed some issues with my spot and divergence.

Of course when I got the laser, it was fine. I removed the focusable lens and I cleaned both sides of the lens, and the piece just over the diode (don't know what it's called) - with a q-tip saturated with 91% alcohol. Let the alcohol dry and viola, a fresh clean new laser! Worked fine the first time.

I brought it out to show the family in the snow and such down here in Arkansas and it got a lil something in the lens, so I immediately took the q-tip back to it and repeated. Now though, I fear something is wrong

Take a look at these pictures and let me know what you think is wrong and what I can do to remedy this...

This is with the laser focused at its smallest point; a little hard to tell from photos, but around the dot itself, light is escaping and diverging all around.

This is with the laser at its most unfocused point before the lens is removed, note the "design" it has - this has been there for a few days now.

This is with the lens removed, note the typical "dots", you can see three of them here.

This is the interior side of the lens, which I swabbed thoroughly with a q-tip and alcohol, and was careful to make sure that no fibers were left behind. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but note that just around the lens, there appears to be small chips in the metal - I don't know whether this would affect light properties or not.

Seen from a different angle

This is the inside, with the lens removed, diode visible. I also swabbed this thoroughly with q-tip and alcohol.

This is with the lens off after cleaning

This is with the lens on at the most unfocused point after cleaning (a little alcohol left, makes for cool effect as it is evaporated)

The lens after cleaning, after the alcohol has evaporated. Note how the "design" mentioned earlier is still present.

The lens at its most focused point after cleaning - Note that there is still light that is escaping around the dot, and escaping through the beam, making the laser less bright all around.

In conclusion, the "design" that seems to be causing this disappears for a few minutes after cleaning, and then reappears and causes the discrepancies once again - the dot has light escaping all around it and is not centralized as it should be; light escapes from the beam in-transit, because when I play with reflective, odd-angle surfaces, I notice that reflections can be seen before I point the beam at the surface. I have read through a few threads on this topic, but decided to share to gain some specific insight - if anyone has some ideas on what can cause this or how to fix it, I would be very appreciative.

Also, I do not believe anything is burnt onto either the lens or the outside of the diode.

It turns out that happened to me just that. Was diode window glass that had cracked.
Carefully remove it and now it looks like before.
I never thought I would break the window of the diode.

First of all, it doesnt seem like your diode's windows is cracked.
I think it's probably your lens, it has happened to many members
who used alchohol in order to clean the lens. The thing is that alchohol
destroys the coating on the lens...
Do you have any extra lenses to test?

Jim

I do not think it is cracked, the spread of light would be much more scattered and drastic if that was the case; I don't have any extra lenses, but I don't really understand that...

...the "lens" that comes with the Rifle doesn't actually have a lens in it, it is just there to maintain the crowned visual effect, so it would have to be the part covering the actual diode, in which case, I have no idea how to fix.

Well there is a special coating on most lenses which sometimes gets
destoyed by alchohol!

I read somewhere not to use qtips also, try using a micro fiber like they sell to clean glasses... The solution your using should be wiped dry not dry on its own, it will leave a blot on the lens I have noticed personally...
