Awesome! Did you make those cores yourself? That last one sounded pretty sweet.

Yes yes... I generally like to keep it interesting :) Speaking of, do you have any other pics yet of your new laser(s) besides your avatar?

I'll pull them together and post a photo in the next day or so.

The beam wasn't focused as tightly on the second and third tests so they took a bit longer.

These rocket motor reloading kits contain propellant grains that are about .56" dia. X 1.6" long. There are also others on the site that are larger and more expensive. You don't need much to do a demo though. The grains can be easily cut with a sharp knife, as they have the consistency of a hard pencil eraser.

Here's one of the 1.4W lab laser burning into a glass-phenolic rocket nozzle.

It measured in the mid-600s IIRC. If you're asking about power, it uses 2 X RCR123s. Also, the beam emerges from the host noticeably off-axis, by at least a few degrees.

This host appears to be the same as the O-Like 445nm:

O-Like claims 700mW for this unit, which is pretty close.

Rayfoss was originally showing a different host on their website, but after ordering they contacted me and wrote:

"Re.1W 445nm blue laser
Could you please kinldy confirm if you can accept this new version:
www.rayfoss.com

The previously version been found the IC heat dispensation ability is not good enough which is under engineer's imrpoving now and caused the shipping delay of your order.

If you can accept this new version we would ship it out to you in 24 hours by UPS or Fedex for time compensation.

If you can not accept this new version please advise us in return as well we would issue refund for you firstly."

Another interesting thing was that the laser arrived with a 1mW warning label attached.
