Have you been able to test any power? Can you take a pic of the diode/sled?

I can't test power cuz I don't have LPM I just turned it on at 330mA for 2 or 3 seconds while testing the pins.

here are the photos:

Hmmm....that does look like a SO6J sled...
Strange.

Anyone else find something like this??

hah I guess it's just me and my bad luck :D how can I isolate it from the host now as it's a very tight press fit. It's been siting around for almost a year waiting for a new diode and now I can't use it >< :D

Mine was case neg too! Mine is also a zombie diode, which I think is a result of me desperately testing all the pins after it didn't work hooked up like a normal 405 :(

Wow I am not the only one :D somewhat of a relief. Sorry to hear it's dead... :(

I am still afraid to do anything with it .. Cuz I can't use it in a negative host with my boost. Linear is out of the question and I end up just wondering and cursing my luck :D

What current did you run it at Ben?

I ran it at 450ma. I think I may have put reverse polarity on it at one point after the normal pinout didn't work.

I was so mad I went right to modwerx and ordered a new one even if it's more expensive ;)

yeah I got pretty angry when it didn't work as intended, I was just about to take the hammer and pound on it :D >< I would like a new one too but money is gone :D

So are these the sleds in the group buy? I just want to make sure I am understanding because obviously I don't want to order several sleds and have them turn out to be unusable or very difficult to use.

@foulmist Can you wrap it in Kapton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia tape and still press it? Maybe machine out the 5.6 a tiny bit bigger to make room for a layer of tape?

Hey Glenn, thanks for helping us out.

Maybe it's a different diode and it just couldn't handle 450ma and that's what damaged it? It's definitely possible that I put reverse polarity on it, but I'm not sure.

Anyways so far it looks like I had one and foulmist had one.

I Had 2 bad ones Glenn.:(

Thank You so Much for putting up with this. You are a Great Man.

Let me know if you need anything.;)

PS: You have nothing to apologize for.:)You did nothing wrong. It is there fault. Iam Sure when i say this most will agree that we are Happy we have someone like you to bring us these great deals:wave:

SO Iam sorry that you have to go through this.:( I know what its like exactly.

+3 to cheer you up.

Now for everyone that is wondering whats up with these diodes what are they etc...

Well Here is a Short version....

About 6 months ago these started to pop up. They are Identical to PHR-805T diodes as far as performance goes but they dont have the same markings.

We Have No clue what is the story behind these like where they come from but if i have to take a Guess these Might be Sleds from a Less powerful burner however use the same sled as the 12x S06J do.

In Some cases they keep the same sled for 2 different burners but just change the diodes out to save on cost. I think this is what it is.

There was Probably a Mix Up and now its very Hard for them to tell the difference. So I think there trying to go through the stock they have now to fix it.

I had gotten 50 of these bad ones and at the time was the first to get these. Luckily they where replaced with the real S06J. I gave a heads up to a few other sled purchasers on the forum to keep a look out. SO it seems that they still have not fixed the mix up.:(

Luckily we have Glenn which is probably one of the nicest guys Ive ever talked to take care of this one.

Also During my Testing back then I noticed 1 thing and 1 thing only that is the DEAD GIVE AWAY THAT THEY ARE NOT THE !@X DIODE BUT THESE CASE NEGATIVE 120mA MAX ~100mW diodes is....

They all have a Blue dot on the back of the diode by the Positive Pin. If you see this on the back of the diode then its one of these Low power ones. SO Keep a Look out for this. Every one that i ever seen like this had the blue dot.

So Again, DO not run them past 120mA. 150mA if your pushing you luck. You should get ~100mW with regular lens.
