Re: Micro-Drive laser driver *NOW ADJUSTABLE*

The parts are rated to 12V, but others have said they've used 3 lithium batteries for a max of about 12.6V without a problem. If anybody knows about pushing components past their rating, us laser geeks do ;)

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver *NOW ADJUSTABLE*

Cool... glad everyone got their stuff and like it :)

As for a new driver: I wish I could design a boost or synchronous drive (like the flexdrive) circuit, but it takes a lot of time and energy to come up with a new design and then actually go about making it, especially since people will probably still want the old design.  I'm really busy as it is with school and have a difficult time keeping up with my orders as it is, so I don't think I could even find the time to try.

So, short answer, no.

If that ever changes, I'll be sure to let everyone know ;)

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver *NOW ADJUSTABLE*

Just a heads-up:

I won't be taking orders between 2/23 and 3/6 due to school. So, get your orders in by Sunday night this week if you need something or will need something in the next few weeks.

Also, I may be further limiting the orders in the upcoming weeks as I really need to start studying more for both my classes and a very important exam I have coming up in June (yes, I have to start studying NOW).

So, I understand that it may be inconvenient for you when I'm "sold out" or can't make any for you at the moment you need/want it, but really I would appreciate if you didn't send me emails/PMs or post messages about when or if you can get something if my site says 'sold out'.... you'll just have to wait until next week (I usually put more up around noon EST on Mondays) or whenever I have them. However, I still take larger orders (more than 5 drivers) by request, so that's not a problem if you want to ask me about those.

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver *NOW ADJUSTABLE*

So, I ran out of the stranded wire I've been including, so I may be including the old solid core wire with any orders of the past few days.

I've since ordered more wire, but this time it is going to be individual red/black pieces rather than the molded wire... I found a place that cuts/strips it into pieces, which will save me a decent bit of time, plus it will probably be easier to fish through the hole in modules or form to your needs, plus it comes pre-stripped!  It's a partial strip, so the little end of the insulation stays on, you just twist it off. It's a little more in cost (about twice as much), but when I don't have to sit and cut 30, 50, 100 pieces of wire, it's worth it :D

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver *NOW ADJUSTABLE*

So, I just made some changes to my website and policies for international shipments.

In the past few months I've had a few people tell me that their package has taken much longer to get to them than usual and some have still not received their order.  This is really frustrating for both you and me.  In the past, I've usually been able to work it out with the customer, but I can't be losing money all the time on resending the order and paying shipping again because it got lost, plus that leaves me open to some unscrupulous individuals who may want take advantage of the fact that there is no proof of delivery.

So, what does that mean?  I cannot and will not take responsibility for any lost or damaged shipments via First Class International shipping (called "Zone Rate" on my site).  You may upgrade to Priority International or Express Mail International by going the the "INTERNATIONAL shipping upgrades" category and adding them to your cart and still selecting "Zone Rate" for your shipping.

If your order is over $100USD, the "Zone Rate" will automatically be the cost for Priority Mail International shipping, about $13USD.  Over $250USD, the rate will then be for Express Mail International, about $25USD.

Priority Mail International is a more reliable method for shipping and should not have the same problems as First Class International, with delivery in 6 to 10 days (or less).  Unfortunately, there is still no tracking or insurance available without paying >$20USD.

Express Mail International is even better, with 3 to 5 day delivery, online tracking and insurance included free up to $100 (must claim full value of order to customs to take advantage, extra insurance available at additional cost).

What a shame that a decent, honest, scholar as yourself, has to resort to such methods because of a few "BAD APPLES" [smiley=thumbdown.gif] Sorry you had to resort to that, but keep up the GREAT WORK, & GOOD LUCK at school [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif] rob

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver *NOW ADJUSTABLE*

Well, nobody actually did anything.  I believe it's mostly the postal service that is causing problems.  But, since I also get customers from outside of LPF, I also realize the potential problem of someone trying to scam me.  Like I said, I have no problem if people want to continue to use the International First Class Mail (Airmail) since it's cheap, but I want them to realize the potential for the package to take a long time or never arrive.

Because of that, I suggest using the better shipping methods because they seem to care more about those packages.  Also, I'm requiring it for the larger orders just to (hopefully) avoid the possibility of it getting lost.

I'm really not happy with how the US Postal Service has been lately, with ever higher prices and lower services.  The cheapest trackable and insurable international shipping method is ~$25 for even something as simple as an envelope!  For the same price, I can go EMS which is faster and includes $100 insurance... it's almost like false advertising because their Priority Mail International service is advertised with tracking and insurance, but then when you go to use the flat rate envelope or small flat-rate boxes, which are about $13, they then tell you that those are not available with tracking or insurance... sure you can add registered mail service to get tracking/insurance, but adding $10 then just brings the price back up to ~$25 [smiley=angry.gif]

Hey Ryan,

Just got the goods and they look great! I haven't had time to hook it up to anything yet, but I'll put some pics up once I get it all done.

Thanks!
