Re: Micro-Driver laser driver *NOW ADJUSTABLE*

I'm having an output problem that I can't figure out.. I have the adjustable driver set at around 420ma (powered by 2 RCR2's). I put everything together and it worked fine, powering my open can to 242mW. And then later when I turn it on again I'm barely getting over 100mW (like 120mW peak, exactly half of what I was getting before). I've tried recharging the batteries, checked the connections, etc. Same thing.  Any ideas?

Problem was resolved... wasn't a driver problem.

Also, parts are in, so production resumes! I still have a decent part of a rather large order to finish, which I'm hoping to complete tonight, then the other orders I have will be started. I currently don't have any large orders (all are <3 each), so I should be able to get all of them done by the weekend. Thanks again for your patience, I'm sure it'll be worth it!

Oh, and these dates aren't guaranteed, but I'll try my best... my girlfriend's birthday is Sat, so that may impact the timeframe since I'm still trying to find her birthday gift (damn Nintendo and their shitty ways not putting out Wii Fit in quantities to meet demand!!!) and we'll be going out to celebrate and what not.

Kind of figured it'd take a day or two longer.

Thanks and look forward to getting. .... again.

Yup... even with having to order more parts, I should still have all orders out within a week of ordering (except styropyro, it'll be 8 days :-[). Anyway, I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding... these things don't just make themselves! ;D

Re: Micro-Driver laser driver *NOW ADJUSTABLE*

Hi Ryan.

Is there a list anywhere of what resistor values should be fitted to give you a specific mA output rating for the non adjustable drivers please?
I want to give my BR a little more oomph that 38mA and wondered what I need to fit for say 90mA??

Thanks

Jim

You can look at the instructions for standard output value settings.

Or you can check out the alternate value list for more settings.

Lastly, you can calculate your own value by using this equation:

Iout = Vref / Rset, where Iout is your output current, Vref is the reference voltage (1.25V) and Rset is your resistance setting.

You can also solve for Rset (switch Rset and Iout), to get the resistance you'd need for your desired output current.

Re: My Last Order,

I deleted my emails and receipts when I received the 4 drivers this week. However PayPal confirms that I ordered 4 "red high range" drivers. You sent me 4 "low range" drivers. :-/ I'm getting 40-140mA out of them at 7.5V using one of your dummy loads. My projects for this weekend have just ground to a halt. :'(

I'm beginning to wonder if the universe isn't trying to give me a message. drlava did the same thing to me last week. . . . .Naaaahhhhh! I have a diode that I must destroy! :D

These are the last of the older style so I don't know if you want them back or not. Whatever we decide about these, I need still need 4 "red high range" drivers. Let me know how you want to work it out.

Peace,
dave

Aw, crap!  Seriously??  I have no idea why I did that, as I had you down for 4x high range  :-[

Anyway, sorry about that! I'll send you out some correct drivers Monday and they'll be the newer version including the easier to adjust pot and what not... if you wouldn't mind, I'll include return postage/label if you could just stick the wrong ones back in the envelope and send em back?

No Problem. Aaron may want to buy one of these, so if he does, I'll include the cash with the ones I send back. He may come by tonight or tomorrow.

Re: Micro-Driver laser driver *NOW ADJUSTABLE*

Just wanted to let anyone know who's interested in purchasing some drivers, that in one week I'll be going out of town (June 29th thru July 5th). There may be little to no orders going out in that time. So, if you are looking to order soon and want them quickly, order before the middle of the week and I should have them out to by the end of the week.

I will however be attempting to make some extra drivers up ahead of time (if I don't have any current orders to complete) or I may look into taking my stuff with me to work while I'm away (I'm visiting my family).

I'll do my best to get orders out ASAP, but please do be aware that the week after this one, you may have to wait about a week or two to get them.

It's good to take a break sometimes, just put a notice on your order page that you're gone and will ship when you get back. works well for me, I only had 1 person cancel their order out of like 20 while I was in Hawaii, most people don't mind the wait as long as you tell them there will be a wait.

Yup, I'll be doing that... I usually do try to put a notice when there will be a delay, even if it is only a few days.

Re: Micro-Driver laser driver *NOW ADJUSTABLE*

Update in Post #2,

biggest thing: new order page is http://rkcstr.googlepages.com/LPF

I made the "main" page a public purchase site where the prices are double the normal (well, with free shipping). So, make sure you visit the page above to order, unless you want to pay more!
