Microboost is a valuable option to replace flexdrive, it was actually dezigned to power high voltage diodes like 405 and 445nm (correct me if i'm wrong). If you want to finish your build soon get microboost and push to max, otherwise wait when flexdrive becomes available. As simple as that.
Consider yourself corrected.

The Microboost was designed to run the higher power Blurays, (mainly 10x, 12x), as these started to require a higher output voltage than the 5.5V the Flexdrive could supply. Some of these BRs are going to the 7V area. Therefore the Microboost came about before the 445 diodes were even known about. The Flexdrive is fine for any 445nm diode as the forward voltage even at high power is only around 4.2V. The only limit is the current! At present we don't have a, "Just For 445nm", driver. I'm a looking forward to when we have one though!!!!

@ hemlock Lol i don't wanna find out.. yeah they were not connected together, in fact the ground was cut short as to not get in the way of the other connections. I was testing everything of mine with a dummy load.

I hooked the diode up to the boost drive @ 440A for the time being until i get a new micro boost in. Im hoping dr lava will help me with this issue.. otherwise its back to the piggy bank.

Im a little disappointed that Dr lava wouldn't even show face in my issue..I sent multiple PM's with no response... none the less i ordered another micro boost drive.. not like i got another driver alternative.. if this one isnt working imma be pissed..

drlava is an EXTREMELY busy man. In addition, this is not his primary forum. You MUST be patient in dealing with him.

how long does an order usually take to be shipped out for a microboost? I understand hes busy, just curious when to expect it in the mail box. :-)

Hi CrossOut, the large solder blob pictured here:

is normal for preset drivers. I typically anchor the solder blob on that other resistor. i don't consider it 'messy' just efficient. Posted about it in some thread a while ago in the drivers section, too. Also, every preset driver is by definition tested because it's preset while operating.
That said, it's not impossible for something to go wrong in the mail, but we need to rule out other things. What was your power source?

Everyone, I just went through charging and shipping a few orders so you'll probably be noticing that and the shipment information should be emailed to you by google. I still have a large backlog of PMs and will go through those this weekend hopefully.
Also because of the lack of time I'm looking for someone who wants to be a distributor of these for this forum. They should have experience, a good reputation, and be capable of presetting them (I can give a few good pointers here to speed it up). I was originally thinking modwerx but just noticed that my lack of PMing here recently has soured that. If interested, please contact me via email, you'll have my email via your google checkout purchase invoice. I assume anyone interested will have purchased a flexdrive or microboost in the past
thanks!

Ok. the only way you can be getting 3.4A out of it is if your dummy load forward voltage is below the battery voltage. What was your dummy load at the time?

In a later post I see you say you have it set to 440A now.. is that 440mA?

dr lava, I hope you could mend the modwerx thing... Drew is the fastest shipper I have seen in this buss. He also has what I consider the strongest rep. of any distributor around.

I would say that would be your best bet. +1

I have PM you multiple times. What about ol' jander... have you forgot about me?

Dr.Lava are you planning on stocking up on Flexdrive units? Right now it says "out of stock" on your web site.

The easiest method.
Take a thin gauge of wire and put some flux on it. Shape it like the yellow line in the diagram and lay it over the corresponding area on the board. Get a dab of solder and very quickly make contact. Then clip the wire with some nail clippers.

Check out this video Mohrenberg did. He was doing the 108mA-412mA range but the idea is the same.
