I ordered

I just ordered a driver. But I have received no acknowledgement other than from Paypal. My money is there, so at least I am in line when things start moving. ;)

I'm very disappointed in this whole situation. From the lack of communication or updates on his site, if I didn't know any better I would think Dr.lava was running a business based out of china! People may have busy lives, but if he can't take 10 seconds to post an update, how will he manage to ship the large amounts of orders waiting? Up untill now all my dealing with Dr.Lava have been satisfactory, but unless he is dead or dieing, this is inexcusable. This will probably be my last transaction with Dr. Lava, and if it isn't processed soon I'll be forced to issue refunds to my customers and cancel the drivers i've ordered.

Whellll, let's see. I've got an update for everyone. As you can see, unfortunately the drivers didn't arrive on the 8th as I had been told. The delays for them have been twofold: 1) the PCBs were initially manufactured wrong and had to be re-done. 2) the assembly equipment apparently broke down and had to be repaired, due to the tight tolerances of these boards the re-calibration has taken extra time. Now I know these are just 'scuses and don't help get the drivers in your hand but you deserve to know.

To put it simply, I'm sorry for the delays but there's nothing I can really do about it. I have put in a request for a speedy partial shipment of at least SOME drivers so I can start shipping the existing orders a little sooner than if I waited for the whole batch.

Also, your orders haven't been charged and won't be until I have the drivers for your order on hand, so at least you can feel safe in that I'm not reaping any benefits here, only the agony of waiting, just like you. To top it off, I actually started this process SOONER this time than before so the wait would be minimized.

Finally, I'm considering moving to more of a behind the scenes role with all of this, and allowing a few of the already existing stores to handle the front end sales. Those who know me know I am trustworthy, however as you can see I can't always respond in a timely manner, maybe they will have more time.

Finally #2, I must admit that I didn't want to post until they were in my hand, but due to the extended delay and increasing desperation sense in posts that was not possible. :p

If you feel like canceling your order, feel free to do so using your google checkout home page. That will lighten my manual shipping burden when they finally do arrive and give someone else a step up on getting theirs sooner :)

Just for those who haven't heard anything yet...

Today Lava tells me that the assembler had a break down and he expects to have the v5 a week from now.

EDIT: Never mind

Another thing I wanted to add, thank you very much for your orders and support - from the guys who are just starting to pro builders, you have shown a real dedication to the art of building over the past 10 months. It takes some skill to successfully incorporate a switching driver into a portable laser - you won't find most mass manufacturers doing it even though it would improve their product greatly. So, here's to you who take pride in their work and strive for perfection.
Cheers!

@Dr Lava

Of these new V5 drivers what have the test results been with them, specifically when trying to drive 8x type of power demands?

To the best of your ability, Do you think there might be any problems driving these new 12x diodes that are being talked about in other threads?

In this case do you have a "changelog" for the new drivers?

they wont drive a 12x im sure... it would have a forward voltage of like 7-8 volts or something I think i heard someone say once.

And Dr.Lava, I am PMing you about the "front end bussiness" thing

He tries the best he can people, he doesnt run the factory where they assemble. I have spoken with Andrew several times over the past month. and EACH and EVERY time he was courteous, willing to help, and supplied me with as much information as he could.

He lives a normal life just like the rest of us. I own Dark Lasers, yet I live in an apartment. I dont do my work there, I have a shop for that, but still. Andrew is just as normal as me and you. he's not some super-electrician making these drivers himself by hand (IgorT does that :D) He's even been kind enough to no process peoples orders until he HAS the drivers, so he's not collecting everyones money. that shows faith, and dedication. IMO anyways.

I personaly on behalf of Dark Lasers VOUCH 100% for Dr.Lava and his credibility.
+rep :)

Check your PM's Andrew, Theres an important one in there (NOT about when the drivers will be here, it's about a proposition)

I think these( v5 flexs) are supposed to be able to give you 7-8 V

Thats why i had asked for a "changelog"

I think they just have a better reverse polarity set-up in them, i do believe Andrew told me this in person (we speak phone by phone, and no I wont post his #)

He sais the 28th now, and im sure thats the real deal.

But @Andrew, let us know what kind of forward voltage this could supply. and if it will handle the up-coming 12x diode :)

Still down for 20.

@pwNd - i wont do a half order, because of the quantity discount.

Awesome - @drlava - How many do you keep in stock before you usually run out - I'm broke for 2 weeks - Do you usually have enough in stock to last longer than that?

The V5's are now tested and IN Stock! I have almost caught up with the orders, thanks for your patience. The V5 has the same output voltage limit: 6V as its predecessor, a higher output boost-only circuit for 12x is planned, but no dates are available yet.

I usually have enough for several months, so you should be OK tommii
