What I mean is, can i still use the driver without that capacitor. Whats the expect output for an LOC at 300 ma?

If what you are asking for is a safe value for current then you should try not to exceed 300mA neither stay under 250mA. By doing so, your LOC will have a nice life :)

Right...
Everyone drives their LOCs at 420mA...
300mA is for a StoneTek diode.

I got the FD to peak and hold at 350 ma, doesn't look like it will go higher. I dont want to mess with it again, so I think ill try it with that, and then see if i need more power. 200+ mw is fine with me.

Really? I heard that <400 mA is safer for the LOC diodes. I guess I am lucky then I spent 3$ for 420mA preset current :D

Some people run them at 500mA with no problems, but I don't recommend going THAT high.
I always run mine at 450mA.

I got my drivers a while back and they worked well. I made a critical error when adjusting
it though. I adjusted the power while it was soldered to the diode (instead of to a test load
like I should have). I did not realized that the pot turns all the way around. The diode went COD. Did I break the driver? I mean the current is still constant and it stays within the range that its in.

Bluray (pocket mini) build decided to die out on me while using it. Before that, it ran solid for about two weeks. Anyway, I ran some tests, and it turns out it's the driver, not sure what went wrong, it was running at 120mAm just fine. Anyway, I don't know if DrLava has anything he can do for me, but aside from that, are there any alternatives anyone else can suggest?

Yeah...Thanks Spyder. I was trying to match the brightness to get a good white balance for the RGV. I will need to bring up the current bit by bit with the dummy load until it looks right next time.

Ugh, I'm having some problems with my driver.
I have the Lavadrive V2 (the square one with range selector) and I had my SF-AW210 diode hooked up to it at 130mA, but I wanted to increase the current a little. I desoldered the laser diode and slapped in 5 1n4001 diodes in series, as a test load, and a 1-ohm resistor. After changing the pot a little and hooking up the battery, the current stays at around 160mA or so, but then after a few seconds it jumps up to 1.3Amps! This driver wasn't even made for 1.3Amps, so I'm not sure what's going on here. And I know it really is putting out this much because the components and 1 ohm resistor get very hot. I'm not sure why this is happening, I'm guessing that it has something to do with either the pot or test load, as those are the only things I changed.
Either way I'm upset and confused, as I want to finish this laser as soon as possible. Does anyone have any input on this?

It sounds like you did the same thing I did... If you you turn the pot to far the current will instantly max out. I'm not sure about it though because mine never was at a different current for a few seconds and then changed like that.

Ok, I desoldered the pot and replaced it with a 100-ohm resistor, and now it goes to 181mA as usual, but then it jumps up to 1.3Amps again! This is really making me mad.:mad:
