The batteries are connected completely and the connection is perfect. However when i move the pointer quickly around, the perfect line is now segmented in equally length segments with equal spacing between them and it varies proportionately with the speed at which I move the pointer. Is there some kind of setting I missed? I have the same bridged set up on my 6x blu-ray and it doesnt pulsate at all. I am worried about sending it back to him.

*Thanks brtaman! *You may have saved somebody's driver from certain death *:'(

+1

Check the voltage of the battery and the connections with the power source (maybe even the connections in the host, if the host is part of the ground path). *You may even get away with just replacing or recharging the batteries. *The flexdrive will sometimes display this "bouncing" when the voltage is at the very minimum of its regulating voltage. *The driver puts out current = the battery sags = the driver stops current = the battery bounces back = the driver puts out current = **repeat ad nauseum**

Peace,

I think you are in the wrong thread daguin :P this is the drlava flexdrive thread not the rkcstr thread *
No do not put anything more then 5.5v into your flexdrive it will go kaboom. Linear drivers like rckstrs suffer from the effect daguin mentioned in his possible solution.
OUCH!!

You are absolutely correct. *

I'll edit my post above to make sure no one burns out there driver before reading your post. *Would you please edit you "quotation" of my post?

The "bouncing" ideas is correct, but not the voltage. *This is what the flexdrive sometimes does when the voltage in the batteries gets down to the ragged edge.

Yeah daguin I tend to get confused as well, when switching between the two for sale threads. Given the thousands of helpful posts you make, I think it is a problem of repetition you get so used to answering questions for each driver that they just melt into one. Will delete my post no point in it being there once your post is updated.

I got my driver today, I can't wait to use it! I had mine preset to 200mA because I didn't feel like making a test load and tweaking the pot, but now I need 150mA instead (The "6x" sleds turned out to be 4x sleds) but luckily I can just break that solder bridge for the low range. Hopefully I can get my 4x pen done before thanksgiving with the family!

Do I need a test load for a Groove driver, or can I hook my multi-meter straight to it? *I think I did everything right, but I'm not sure, and I want to test it.

Hooking your driver straight up to the multimeter could damage the multimeter because there is no load.

Yep, you can open the solder jumper and turn the pot clockwiseup so the flat spot faces the black resistor that is connected to the bottom dot of the solder jumper and that will be pretty close to 150mA.

A dummy load is reccommended for the groove driver due to its 1V LDO design, it needs to see the laser diode voltage on the output for your current settings to be accurate when you connect the real laser to it.

What are you measuring the voltage with?
What load is on it when you are measuring it?
Can you adjust the current?
What is the power source that you are using?

Peace,
