Quoting daguin:

"I FINALLY got around to building these little gems.  They are indeed one of the easiest builds I have ever done.

Here are the parts

The drivers attached (I still needed to trim down the corners and trim off the excess wire at the solder joints)

Thanks for designing another sweet system, Jayrob.

If you can solder and set a driver, you can build one of these delightful little lasers

If you don't want to build one, keep your eyes peeled in the Buy/Sell/Trade board ;)

Peace,
dave"

Hey Dave, nice little demo of the build!

Thanks for showing this! :) The little Pocket Mini builds are pretty small eh? Solid too.

I can see that you have a couple of Kryton's your building in your laser factory as well...

LOL! Those are the smooths that I got from you a couple of days ago. You wouldn't happen to have four 3.7V RCR123's would you?

The anodized groove got here today.

Thanks for all the presents!

Peace,
dave

Your welcome Dave...

Just a little pay back.

I do happen to have 4 UltraFire 3.6 volt RCR123's that I got from here because I didn't want to wait for DX:
http://www.batteryjunction.com/uf16340.html

As you can see from that link, I paid more than the DX price. 3 of them are still in the plastic wrapper, and the other one has only been charged once, I was using it to test LED emitters when building my Key Chain flashlight mods...

So if you want them, I'll have to ask for about what they cost me... How about $23 shipped for the 4 of them?

Senkat, two more 'Pocket Mini Kits' coming your way Greg!  :)

How are you liking them so far?
Jay

Heh - How am I liking them so far ? do you REALLY gotta ask that ? As usual, the premier designer of tutorials, kits, and custom lasers has outdone himself - by far the easiest kits avaialbe out there - wish I could afford them ALL ! :)

Not really, I knew you liked them... :)

But I was hoping for some feedback so that others would know. As I am obviously trying to promote more interest in these kits.

This kind of feedback, especially from experienced guys like yourself, Dave, Glenn, and others, really puts a seal of approval on them! :D

Thanks for posting back Greg!

Just giving Jayrob one more plug. I built a 6x blu-ray pocket mini a few weeks ago and it was a super simple build using a flex drive, an aixiz, and the parts supplied with the kit. anyone with the most basic assembly and soldering skills should be able to put one together in no time.

This is a perfect sized host. It's big enough to have a nice solid feel, yet small enough to comfortable carry in your pocket. I don't think I would change much if I were to design it myself. This flashlight was born to be a laser host.. Nice job Jayrob!!

Hey thanks guys! :)

I just got word back from Dr. Lava about the size of the new version 4 FlexDrives, and he says that they are 9mm X 12mm.

That's smaller both ways than the version 3, which were 12mm X 13.3mm.

Just to let everybody know that the new FlexDrives will fit even easier into the Pocket Mini build.

It really is an excellent driver! If not for the FlexDrive, we wouldn't be seeing these type of builds that can run off of only a single battery...

Chris, your Pocket Mini Kit will make it to the Post Office today! (Tuesday)

Please let me know when you get it! :)

Should i use both the case pin and the negative wire in my 6x build, or is it not worth it?

No need with this kit!

Since you have your ground from the stock round circuit board as shown by Dave above! ::)

That is all you need... those two wires to you FlexDrive input side. Then two wires from the FlexDrive output to your diode...

Connecting the diode case pin to the negative pin won't hurt anything, but it is only necessary when this is the only route from the battery negative to the FlexDrive.

Let us know how your 6X build turns out! :)
