We have no idea. If you want to risk it, go ahead, but it's not like we have stats lying around.

Sorry but I have not tried one of those. So I cannot give an accurate answer...

sorry for bugging you but do you know how wide the host is because I think this will fit anything that is 10mm

A 12mm AixiZ module slides into the pen...

It is designed to fit 12mm green modules...

I have two quick questions before I put my order in for one of these.

1. Will this host accept two protected 10440s? It should accept unprotected ones fine since they're the same size as AAAs but I know the protected ones are a little longer. I have a project in mind that would use 2x10440 as it power source and would prefer the protected ones to be safe.

2. Most importantly do you have any black ones left with the switch board option in stock? :yh:

I have the black ones and the switch boards yes...

But I don't know if the protected cells will fit. I kind of doubt it. They may possibly work, but I cannot say for sure.

Maybe there is somebody here who has tried it, that can chime in...

Thanks for the quick reply. I was leaning towards "doubt it " too. The unprotected will fit since comparing the 10440 sizes listed on DX to the AAA sizes listed on wikipedia they're equal. If they don't I know my "plan B" build will work fine in the host. Can you PM me the total and where to send the payment to? Thanks!

Just wanted to let you know it arrived Saturday and it looks great. While doing a test fit I managed to fry my 5mW diode (grrr) so now I need to wait for my diode presses to arrive later this week. Then I need to decide do I use the replacements I ordered from modwerx or use one of the diodes I harvested from some old DVD burners to make it a 'real' DIY build.

I do have two quick questions for yo and anyone else who's built one of these.

1. Since this will be case negative for a red diode I'm having a hard time getting ground from the 10440s I'm using because there's no spring in the tail. I made a little spacer from a piece of 22awg copper but that'll get lost the first time I take the batteries out. Would it hurt to carefully cut back the outer wrapper or should I find a spring for it instead?

2. On your switch option is there a certain spot I'm supposed to solder the lead going to the diode to? I measured the same voltage at the spring and the right side solder joint of the switch but nothing on the left side (as the spring is facing you). Possibly a bad switch or am I missing something?

Yes cut a small amount of the insulation off at the negative end of the batteries...

For the switch, you just use a DMM to test which solder connection will make contact with the spring when the switch is activated...

Thanks for the info jayrob. I didn't think that'd be a problem removing a bit of the insulation to make contact but wanted to ask the more knowledgeable folks here. Last night I had an 'ah ha!' moment when it "clicked" what the problem with the switch was. I wasn't thinking that laser pens don't use click on/click off switches like most flashlight based hosts but a press and hold switch. Once I had that realization it took all of 30 seconds to find a couple different points I could use. My diode press should be here tomorrow so I can finally build this over the weekend!
