It's one of those things that will depend on the exact batteries you are using... Because you can adjust the position of the black piece before you glue it in place. You need to check this by checking battery length...

Been so busy dealing with trolls on the rest of the forum, I forgot to tell you that my pen host arrived last week. Huge thanks for shipping it to me, and for the flashlight you included. Just waiting for my flexdrive and LPC-815 and I can begin construction of my first ever build. I will be posting build update when I start.

That was fast, I just ordered it yesterday afternoon. Thats less then 24hr from time of payment to in my hands

So all I need other than the host, is a diode, module, and a driver? Well, I got all of that...well, I got a rckstr, so I need to get a flexdrive too...but that can be arranged =P

EDIT: I don't need a flexdrive??? If I want to power a red LCC diode from a GGW, do I need a flexdrive? Or can I still use a rckstr V3?? Would I need special batteries? If so what kind? I'm wondering because if I need some sort of special rechargable, I'll do it if I can just use this rckstr I already have.

GGW LCC red diode with rkcstr driver using 2 X 10440 rechargeable batteries will work good with this host...

If you are new at building, then I will warn you about two things.

1. Read up on eye safety
2. This build is easy, but maybe not a first build recommendation for most. (although if you are mechanically inclined, then it is not hard)

Hey, you mentioned to someone earlier that using a rckstr is good for a red build, but why not for a blu-ray? I plan on possibly getting one of these for a PHR.

Don't get me wrong...

The rkcstr driver is a great quality driver, but it's the supply of this build that is limited for a rkcstr/blu-ray combo...

It's just my opinion that a blu-ray/rkcstr build should have 3 X 10440 instead of only 2...

Many people do build a rkcstr/blu-ray with 2 X Li-Ion batteries as the supply, and it works.

But those builds really do not stay in regulation for long. As soon as the supply drops below about 7 1/2 volts or so, then the output will start dropping in power as the batteries continue to drain...

I don't know enough to answer that question, but I would guess no...

I know for sure that I would not mess with it. Save the rkcstr driver for a red pen. (or other build)

But if you must have a blu-ray in a pen, get a FlexDrive and use 2 X standard AAA batteries. (I like Energizer e2 lithium, but you would also have the option to use standard AAA rechargeable batteries. Sanyo eneloop are the best)
