There is room. It is a little tight with a full length module, but there will be room for sure. You may need to use fine, flexible wire though...

About the 405-G-1 glass lens mod, yes, it just threads right into your AixiZ module!

About duty cycle, I have (out of habbit), always used about a 1 minute duty cycle, but I know that this may not always be completely necessary, especially with a massive heatsink and a PHR build. It obviously depends also on the current you use with your diode.

But I always say, 'it can't hurt to use a duty cycle'!

Some are pushing the long open can diodes higher, but 420mA's is the norm...

At this current, you will have about 245mW's with an AixiZ acrylic lens. Multiply that by 20% if you use my Meredith glass lens mod fit for AixiZ. (294mW's)

If you wanted to be a little safer on the diode, you could set it lower. Like maybe 390mA's. This would still be about 260mW's with Meredith glass...

These host and heat sink combo's are a perfect match for my ready made modules.

FS: Modules, Modules, and More

With the 3405, you only need to remove the LED and solder the two wires to the module. Drop in two (or three) 10440's and you have a working laser putting out ~245mW of burning red light or 190mW of violet light.

This project was Nikokapo's first laser

You can do almost the same thing with the 4171, but you need to remove the resistor in the white silicone as well. You might also have to "open up" the pill a bit to make room for the back of the module (IIRC).

That's a 245mW burning red laser (that you assembled yourself) for less than $80

OR

You build a 190mW burning violet (bluray) laser (that you assembled yourself) for less than $150. If you put out the extra cash to get a 405-G-1 low loss lens from Jay as well, you will have >220mW from this same set-up!

We can't make it much more convenient than this

Thanks, Jayrob. I received the host/heatsink combo thursday. Now all I need is batteries. I was going to ask how you got the heatsink in the host or how I would get it out to do the set screw but the module fit perfectly snug so I'm not going to even worry about the set screw at this point. Thanks, again.

You will want to use the set screw to make sure your module stays put...

And it will press the module tight against the heatsink for better heat transfer as well.

There is a final retaining ring at the very front of the host that unscrews. This is what holds the heatsink in the head.

You will need a 1.5mm Allen wrench for the set screw.

Now all I need is batteries. I was going to ask how you got the heatsink in the host or how I would get it out to do the set screw but the module fit perfectly snug so I'm not going to even worry about the set screw at this point. Thanks, again.

(4171 or 3405) You will want to use the set screw to make sure your module stays put... And it will press the module tight against the heatsink for better heat transfer as well. There is a final retaining ring at the very front of the host that unscrews. This is what holds the heatsink in the head.
