[quote author=Bearded_Galaxy link=1202452073/420#439 date=1221456404]Also, using the sku.4171, you could just use a rechargeable lithium 18650 battery (3.6V) if you're planning on using a FlexDrive driver, and that'll do just fine, as well as be rechargeable.

The 4171 host will fit an unprotected 17670 if you want a single 3.6 volt battery. You will need a FlexDrive for this configuration. The protected 17670 is a little too tight at the end where the protection circuit is...

Ace82, I got your order done and will have it in tomorrow's mail! (Monday)

SilentDawn, yours too.

Since the FlexDrive won't operate at less than 2.5V, and most protected cells have the minimum cut off voltage at 2.5V, is there a real need for the protection circuit? Or is the risk too great, and I should just put a 1N4001 diode in series with the battery so the FlexDrive will cut off when the battery's around 3.1V (2.5V delivered to the driver)? Would there be any adverse effects to the second option, other than a shorter effective battery life? And about how much shorter would it really be? 2%? 10%? 25%?

Those are good questions... but questions that cannot be answered unless you try it. I don't know the precise drop out of the FlexDrive. Only what is stated in the instructions.

I would say that the Silicon diode will not lessen the run time too much. Safer to use it. That way, you have a choice of the unprotected 17670, or 2 X 3.0 volt lithium batteries as well! ;)

Thanks. I need to get the 300mW mistake back into a host ;)

IgorT's lenses can't be too far away, can they?

Peace,

I need 4 more heatsinks Rob. It is the same heatsink as SKU 46 from DX but the base of the heatsink needs to be slightly smaller. Could you do that? After your answer I will send an order with exact specs.

I found a very nice host that is pretty similar to SKU 46 but much nicer imo. Feels less "cheap"

Thanx
