I think it depends on the host..maybe some experienced member can give you some input on your thought.
For my Labstyle Laser it would be better when the diode is soldered onto the PCB ;)

Good enough for me - I just needed to see that there was a use case for that version.

^^um...i'm just a noob who is capable of killing his new SurvivalLaser...so maybe i'm too dumb to design a working labby :D
Better don't rely on my opinion ;)

Hey, just checking if you got my order, from a Lukezcool@hotmail.com?

Thanks, Luke :)

The New Zealand order, right? Received and shipped.

BTW for purchasers, I really never confirm receiving payments or shipping, unless you ask me. This is normal. I'm vigilant about checking my Paypal daily for orders, and shipping as shortly after as possible.

So if you don't here from me after using a Paypal button to purchase something, that's normal :)

Hey Fizzpop,

Sorry for taking a while to reply. For hosts, have you checked out Jayrob's Maglite, SolarForce, or Stainless Steel 18650 ?

I bet the "Loose Head" version would work awesome with the Maglite. You could probably even heatsink the driver right to the gigantic diode heatsink.

Side-note, I just got my first 405-G-1 lens from Jayrob today. Holy crap this thing is amazing! Maybe I'm just going through the normal 405-G-1 devirgining, but I put it on the "Ancient" host from my sig, and I've never seen such a powerful beam. I'm going to grab an LPM and give it a test ;)

Sorry if this has been answered rhd but how long is the entire module with spring?

Sorry if this has been answered rhd but how long is the entire module with spring?

Lase

Found it:
The length of the unit from the back of the PCB to the top of the aixiz module is about 34mm

The spring itself adds roughly 10mm, but it's quite flexible, and can compressed down to just a few mm, and you can trim it shorter if you want.

The lens is a typical lens, and will add some length to varying degrees depending on where it is adjusted to.

Would i be able to use the mosquito with the loose head, on a hotlight hot ?

Putting just the diode in the module, and having the driver, behind the module and heatsink?

That's the idea - yep. Though I don't have a hotlight on hand anymore.

But that's the essence of how the loose head version works. Although I would correct one part of that plan:

"Putting just the diode in the module, and having the driver, behind the module and heatsink?"
- should read -
"Putting just the module in the heatsink, and having the driver, behind the module and heatsink?"

Thats exactly what i meant, BUT

Another question, if provided with a mosquito,

Do u have a pic of a loose head version?

I think i would still need a complete module, to be able to put in into the heatsink, and tighten the set-screw.

How would i then get the back-end of the module on, with the driver already attached to the "front end"

Or could u just fix it up for me, put the module backside on it, before attaching the driver.

PS: sorry if this does not make much sense, but i am typing in a hurry here..

Thanks in advance.

Hey,

It's ok, I follow. You wouldn't use the back side of the module. Unless you really wanted to, in which case I could put that on before attaching the driver.

Cheers

but i think (im not sure atm, as i dont have the host with me right now)

that i will NEED the end part, to be able to secure it in the heatsink (unless the set screw is so close to the front, that i can just use the front part of the module, and secure that ..)

Also, will u be continuing to provide these modules, or is this a limited time deal?

I would be surprised if you needed the whole module. I rarely use the back of the module, and I used to have a few hotlights hosts - I probably would have remembered if there was anything strange like a necessity to use the back part.

I plan to continue offering these. Though I will probably increase the price to $85 at some point - probably with V3.
