Haha, yeah I just registered now (to post here). I've been reading around for several days and even brought some stuff but never managed to summon the energy to actually register
It would be powered by a single 18650 right?
Oh, yea. I would be so terrified of losing my eyesight or damaging someone elses, I would never point it at anything remotely reflective, haha. Probably just point into sky (not at planes obviously) and admire the beam Lasers are so cool.

Btw, Would loose head or normal be best for the Guidesman 2#? Or would it not make much/any difference? - Thanks heaps in advance

You would need two 16340 batts to power it since its not a boost driver

Are you sure that works with one 18650 battery... only 3.7 V?? I tried and I've put two in series to operate... BTW great module

I'm not sure whether Ray is still selling that particular Guidesman. But in terms of the Guidesman, as a general rule, I think you'd be best with the loose head design. In fact, that's exactly the host style I had in mind when I added this option. It allows you to flexibly place the driver away from the heatsink and diode (so for a guidesman / hotlight, that would probably be tucked into the little plastic pill).
Yep, 100% correct. This is a linear driver, so you're going to be looking at 2 lithium ion cells to run it.

Just FYI in case anybody is looking for hosts for these...
I just ordered one of these to check it out (they look awesome), and also to take measurements for custom fitting them to some of my kits...
Which would only the basic host/heatsink kit.
It will only be for the kits that can fit 2 X Li-Ion batteries with this Mosquito module.
There are for sure, at least three of my kits that will work for these modules. (Maglite, SolarForce, Stainless Steel 18650)
I will be fitting a custom heatsink that will be bored out larger at the back end for fitting the module. (driver)
The front of the heatsink will be fit to hold the 'AixiZ module end' of the Mosquito module with a set screw like normal...
If there is room, I believe these will also work with my black 18650 kit. (C6) With a custom fit heatsink design...
Soon I will up date my threads (then ones that will work with this Mosquito module), with an option for ordering the basic host/heatsink with it custom fit for these...

For those interested, the OP has been updated, and the Mosquito has been iterated to Version 2 in light of an updated PCB and some other modifications.
- The new PCB has re-arranged diode pads so that all three 445 diode pins get their own pad, making for the most secure possible connection between diode and driver.
- I'm marketing these as 1.2W+ modules. Current is now going to be set at 1,667mA for new modules.
- Module will now come with a dust cap.
- In the next few days, I'm going to add links to Jayrob hosts that are verified/tested to work well with the Mosquito.
There will be a general "tidying up" of the OP once I get a chance in the next week or so. But for now, the paypal links HAVE been updated, and any Mosquito purchased from this point forward will be a V2.

I really like the idea of a verified host list. I keep looking at these, but I'm always wondering which version would work best for a particular host.

The key would be the length of room in the head??
But possibly it could fit the 'spring style' Mosquito module, and just eliminate the pill...

I'm giving some thought to "combining" the leads version and the loose-head version into just the loose-head version.
My logic being that the only time you really *need* the driver to be firmly attached to the diode, is when you're using the driver spring as a point of contact for the batteries. Otherwise, if your batteries are attached by leads, then why does the driver need to be attached to the diode?
- I'm not 100% on that decision yet though. Input?
