Is the 14500 equivalent to an AA battery?

The 14500 is the same physical size as a AA battery, but it is a 3.6 volt lithium rechargeable...

It really is a sweet little build! My other DIY Green Kit is a little better for heatsinking, but these Mini Mags are so thin and have such a nice glossy finish!

I also like that I can use one of the Mini Mag holsters if I want. I like the leather ones:

Whats the tailcap like?

It's nice, but I would like it better if it was harder to turn on. It clicks pretty easily. (Nite Ize)

I have ordered one of the Terra Lux tail caps to see if I like it better...

I just received my Terra Lux tail cap to try out and I must say that I like it much better than the Nite Ize switch.

The Terra Lux switch requires more pressure to 'click' it on or off. Nice smooth finish too!

Blu-ray or Red:

I found out that these have very little room in the head, so that's why I had to use a custom spacer/driver mount for a version 4 FlexDrive to mount inside the barrel with a 14650 supply for the blu-ray and red Mini Mag build...

looks great, but is it possible to waterproof this kit to a few feet like the maglites themselves?
the front end, tail cap and barrel ends? im always scared of water messing up my nice shiny lasers. any info jayrob?

Quite honestly, this host is very tight for room...

As you can see from the pictures, there is not good heatsinking room for the module either.

To make it water tight, you would have to seal the front with a glass lens and o-ring, which would affect the beam and power. (unless you had some AR coated glass specific for 532nm)

Also, the small set screw is a potential leak point that would need to be sealed.

It also has much better heatsinking for your module!

how much power loss would we be talking if a maglite clear plastic front 'lens' was inserted with the supplied o-ring to your diy green kit, and is the switch waterproof? ive already done this and everything fits perfect, ordering the module soon, but unsure whether to put it in water....

Hey you know with custom modifications like what your talking about, it's just trial and error...

You will have to do testing to see if you can make it water proof. Just test it without a batter or module installed.

Same goes for the question about loss from a plastic lens. I would not think that it would be a very good thing to have the beam go through plastic though...

do you think this kit would work with the CNI PGL-III-M-532 200mW module? Also known as the DL "Spartan"

This kit is very limited for fitting a green module completely enclosed inside the host...

I have not seen that module you mentioned, but if it's 200mW's, I'm pretty sure it's not a 'shorter' style module that would fit completely inside this host like the 50mW 'short' green module that I showed in the first post...

will any module that fits in a GLP-AAA or GLP-CR2 also fit in this? I'm thinking about getting a really nice module from CNI (like a >150mW GLP, a 200mW PGL-3-M, or maybe even a pulsed 5-10mW Blue (the ones on the "Aquarius" GLP's). Let me know what you think, because I really do love this host, and I'd really love to have a high quality, lasting, powerful (or rare-color) module in it.

... then yes, I could fit it for any standard 12mm module. And I believe the 473nm modules for the Aquarius may be a different diameter, but there is room inside the DIY Green kit to adjust the size of the heatsink, pill, and front piece to fit it I'm sure...

But the SS C3 host shown in this thread, will not fit normal 12mm modules completely inside like the 'shorter' 50mW module that I showed in the first post...

so are you saying that your MiniMag host will not fit a module that fits in 2xAAA GLP's? I understand that the CR2-GLP's are bigger and that those modules may not fit... but logically, I would expect that the modules in the GLP-AAA's (a.k.a the DL 'Viper' series) would fit inside this (at least they look like they'd fit). Also, when I say "this" (and every time I have mentioned "this" so far, including the previous posts), I mean the Mini MagLite kit that this thread is all about. If neither GLP modules can fit inside this amazing host of yours, what are the dimensions of the kind of module that would fit inside? Or rather, what should I ask CNI if I were to inquire about a custom-sized module (probably a 1-20mW 473m, or a >150mW 532nm)?
