Jayrob Strikes Again!

Got my lenses shipped to me at work. Popped in the Meredith red at lunch and impressed a few engineers (also had my Kryton blu-ray with the 405-G-1). Went home and immediately busted out the Kenometer.

Original AixiZ glass lens: 261mW
Jayrob Meredith glass lens: 311mW

As an added bonus the beam is tighter at aperture with the Jayrob Meredith. The 50mW gain represents a 19.2% increase in power.

That's right, my humble Kryton Smooth is now an official 300mW monster. I cannot wait for the sun to set to check out the beam in the Florida humidity.

I wonder if these fit the Dilda...

Bottom line - if you like red photons then you'll definitely need this lens. I've never seen so many from a single source!

Hey Jay, I just finished the LPC and have the Meredith module installed. I'm getting some weird effect around the focused dot. It looks like it is going through a diffraction grating. I'll post a picture in a few minutes. I don't think it is your lens and I can't wait to give you some numbers when my LPM arrives.

k1kb0t, that sounds strange... I clean and inspect the lenses before I assemble them, so I don't think it is the lens. But the Meredith glass lenses do have some 'side splash' similar the the 405-G-1 glass lenses.

Jay I just got in your lens and swapped it out on my red burner unit for a nice increase in power. Output on my Laserbee 1 deluxe jumped from about 260mw to 318mw after 30secs so it looks like roughly another 22% increase with your lens for my red,very impressive indeed. Thanks again for an awesome quality lens just like the last one which put my PHR blu-ray over 200mw. Very nice work.

I like it! No spring with the teflon tape carefully mounted on the threads. The look is extremely professional and provides smooth focusing action.

This is an exceptionally good lens, very little scatter and a clean beam even in the far field.

Since you bought both the Meredith glass lens mod, and the Kryton EzFocus adapter, I went ahead and installed the EzFocus adapter onto the lens assembly and put some Teflon tape on the threads as well...

I'm not sure how much longer I can get the 'optimized for red' lenses from Meredith. They have switched to their new 'broadband' lens. It is a good lens as well, but for red, the old lenses were best...

I only have 3 left on hand besides my personal ones. Last I checked with Meredith, they told me they would save the rest for me, but it was less than 20, and I'm not sure if anybody else asked for them or not...

rpaloalto, I am sending your DX new style dilda back today. (Thursday)

My custom Meredith lens modification works very nice with this laser from DX!

This laser measured 179mW's with it's stock acrylic lens. Then I put the Meredith glass lens modification in there, and it is now at 230mW's!

This is a 28% increase in power!

Now normally you can expect 20% increase for red with Meredith glass vs AixiZ acrylic (back opened)

Not sure why you got 28%, maybe the acrylic lens had degraded a little or something.

But for those who have this laser and want a Meredith glass lens mod, just make sure I know what laser it is for.

Because as shown in the pictures, I have to assemble the lens differently for this laser...

I use the tiny extra spacer because I wanted to make sure that the lens could not touch the diode if the focusing head was turned too far in.

It comes to focus, and still has about 3/4 of a turn left. Plenty for any kind of distance focusing...

Thanks jayrob, I'm glad you were able to make your Meredith glass lens fit.
This makes a huge difference in burning power. I just got the laser back this morning. I can see a huge difference in the quality of light emitted from this laser. It produces a very clean and tight beam of light. I just got done burning a piece of wood. I was able to focus it so tight. It produced a white light while burning.

Great service, explanative e-mails and a very fast turn around time.

I'm not sure how much longer I can get the 'optimized for red' lenses from Meredith. They have switched to their new 'broadband' lens. It is a good lens as well, but for red, the old lenses were best... I only have 3 left on hand besides my personal ones. Last I checked with Meredith, they told me they would save the rest for me, but it was less than 20, and I'm not sure if anybody else asked for them or not... Edit: This will work the exact same way, with the same power increase using my new 650-G-1 glass lens mod: http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs...ase-46332.html rpaloalto, I am sending your DX new style dilda back today. (Thursday) My custom Meredith lens modification works very nice with this laser from DX! This laser measured 179mW's with it's stock acrylic lens. Then I put the Meredith glass lens modification in there, and it is now at 230mW's! This is a 28% increase in power! Now normally you can expect 20% increase for red with Meredith glass vs AixiZ acrylic (back opened) Not sure why you got 28%, maybe the acrylic lens had degraded a little or something. But for those who have this laser and want a Meredith glass lens mod, just make sure I know what laser it is for. Because as shown in the pictures, I have to assemble the lens differently for this laser... I use the tiny extra spacer because I wanted to make sure that the lens could not touch the diode if the focusing head was turned too far in. It comes to focus, and still has about 3/4 of a turn left. Thanks jayrob, I'm glad you were able to make your Meredith glass lens fit. This makes a huge difference in burning power. I just got the laser back this morning. I can see a huge difference in the quality of light emitted from this laser. It produces a very clean and tight beam of light. I just got done burning a piece of wood. I was able to focus it so tight. It produced a white light while burning. Great service, explanative e-mails and a very fast turn around time.
