Update 4/4/13: I don't have any of these In stock and probably not going to build any for a while. Thanks! :)

The next version of the GhostDrive has arrived. It's been redesigned to make it even more super awesome than it was before. So what's new with this version?

1) M0ar Metal! Wider traces and as much metal as I could possibly fit between the layers to help with heat dissipation.

2) M0ar current selection! I've managed to squeeze another resistor onto the back side of the board which will allow for virtually an infinite amount of current settings. Before I was limited on current settings because of the use of a single resistor, and resistors needed for certain currents not always being available in the size that I needed. That's not a problem anymore. The driver should be fully customizable now.

3) Same small size, same IC, same features as before. Things haven't changed there.

Description

The GhostDrive2 is a full featured, micro-sized, linear driver. It's small enough to easily fit inside of an AixiZ module, and is capable of running laser diodes on two 3.7V lithium-ion batteries.* Each driver comes in a preset range which you select at checkout.

Don't see a current that suits your build? Need more current? Less current? No worries, not all the possible settings that I have available for the driver are listed. Just let me know what you'd like your driver set for, and we'll get a dialogue going before things are finalized.

The GhostDrive2 is also available in the "Option-X" configuration which enables you to customize the driver to your own specifications by supplying your own resistors.

Features

• Dimensions: 8.96mm x 12.8mm

• Reverse polarity protection

• Voltage ripple protection

• Thermal protection

• Double sided, all the hot components are on one side for easy heatsinking

• Can be soldered directly to laser diode

• Max voltage in: 15V

• Max operating current: 800mA

• Selectable ranges:

20mA
25mA
30mA
35mA

Heatsinking is recommended when operated at higher currents.

*High-powered blu-ray diodes (12X) may require more than 7.4V if powered over 250mA. Do not exceed 15V.

The GhostDrive2 is available here for $6.99

Good design and what not. It's just surprising how well Lava did... this is still bigger than the FlexDrive D:

It actually depends on the diode... if the dropout is low enough you can run reds and IR's on one battery with a linear!

Just ordered one Ghost. Gonna use it for my 6x 405 nm build. :)

Got it today Ghost, thanks! :D

Just gotta wait for the batteries to come and then it'll be finished.

Can these be wired in parallell for higher output without any trouble? And do they need heatsinking at ~700mA?

Yes, they can be paralleled, no problem. You'll need to heatsink them at 700mA though.

Hey ghost any chance for a pot in the future

Hrmmm... probably not on these, but definitely higher powered versions coming. ;)
