Re: Feeler: full colour driver extension for the White Fusion kit

Yea I was working pretty hard to keep smoke going. I wonder if I can find some smoke juice and just stick a soldering iron in it. Or run it through a cloths iron. I won’t be home where my fog machine is till next week.

Anyone got a homemade recipe for fog juice?

I realy want to do this driver justice. In person it is awsome to see. I get Wow and that's awsome from anyone who has seen it young and old.

here's the stepper motor controler i plan on using for a 4 motor spiyro
Phidgets Inc. - Unique and Easy to Use USB Interfaces

Thanks for the link!

I think the small steppers in sleds are bipolar though. This controler is for Unipolar steppers. I wonder if I can find unipolars as small. Size is a factor with this build as I want it to stay hand held sized.

Anyone got a homemade recipe for fog juice?

Try with 30% glycerine in distilled water, as first solution (the more cheap and easy one).

If you can get chemicals, try 1/3 triethylen glicole, 1/3 dipropylen glicole and 1/3 distilled water, it last longer.

But make small quantities time by time, when you need it, not big quantity for storage, cause if you keep it for long time, it can degrade / corrupt and develope bacterial colture.

Hi I think you can get stepper motor controles from Carl's electronic supply at, 3 Channel Color Organ I did pick up some cool stuff there, The older 3 chanel light rogan. Good luck John:wave:

That was good, but not great, lol. Btw is your FX routines unlocked?.

Re: Feeler: full colour driver extension for the White Fusion kit

Yea sorry FML. I really should wait and do it right but at the same time I think people are waiting to see a demo with lasers and this driver. I will try to make some fog and do a better job on the camera work.

If I don’t do anything better I can easily do this justice on Monday when I am back in Montana where I have a fog machine and 6x BRD to replace the 4x in there now.

Unlocked? I can change programs and options if that is what you mean. I didn't change programs in this video because I was literally "blowing smoke" lol. Maybe I need an assistant smoke blower…

Smoke kills, do you know ?

And, if you don't care about your health, care at least about your laser optics ..... cigarette smoke, containing nicotine and tar, that are oily based, slowly deposit on lenses and optics, forming a thin, opaque layer that degrade transparence and combining work ..... and cannot be blowed away from air, must dismantle and use specific cleaners, after .....

LOL, may become a new anti-smoke campaign ..... "Quit smoke, think to the health of your lasers" ..... :eg: :p

lol,

I wasn't smoking I was blowing smoke off a smoldering synthetic cloth.

Edit: Probably got instant cancer from it.

Re: Feeler: full colour driver extension for the White Fusion kit

I got my custom made test board today and it is awesome:

Size: 63 x 35mm.

I will order 20 boards and it should get here soon, I am still waiting on my components, it's been a while since I made the order...

Should I start a new FS-thread? I'd like to post up my list on the first post on who is ordering what.

That looks great!

If you start a new thread PM me so I can update mine.

I decided I'll just run with this thread. I posted an order's list on the first post, please have a look so everything looks right.
For those of you who haven't chosen any max currents, please do that so I can edit the list.

Re: Feeler: full colour driver extension for the White Fusion kit

Alright, let me ask you this possibility FireMyLaser: Let's say I want a high power setting AND a low power setting. I'm sure it's possible, but how difficult do you envision it being to have a 3 pole switch such that I can flip that switch and change to a different resistance setting for all 3 lasers at once? Going from one good white balance setting at high power to another good white balance setting at low power. Not too difficult to solder in a parallel resistance that I can activate? Very difficult?

For example, using the 1.25V of the LM317 as the reference because the math is easy and I don't remember if that's wat your drivers use or not: main resistance on board set to, say, 38mA with a 33ohm resistance. Then, I flip a switch which connects a parallel resistance across the 38ohm resistor, with the parallel resistance equaling 3.3ohm, giving a new total resistance of 3ohm, and a new current of ~417mA. This makes sense, no? And would really only require another switch and 3 more resistances.

Any reason this won't work?

Re: Feeler: full colour driver extension for the White Fusion kit

Sorry noobish question, I have a 50mw green O like module do I have to remove the driver and solder this direct to the IR diode??

Also I have a LOC Red and a PHR, anyone know what output I need to set the red, green and blue at for best colour's

Mine is going into a external dvd housing with a 3 mirror spyro, pot on 2 or maybe all 3 motors.

Cheers

It would work but not be easy. First the white balance would get messed up because you would need another 3 potentiometers for fine tuning.
It wound be wires going everywhere.
You'll need to find a very odd switch.

What you could do is ether relocate the existing pots and make them easy to adjust without opening the case, or replacing them with panel pots.

Also high power green lasers tend to mode hop at low current and be even more unstable when modulated.

1. Correct. Note that the green laser is case positive when doing this.

2. Not important. What is important is that you choose what you think is a safe max current for your lasers. The potentiometers on the board will take care of the power balance.

Re: Feeler: full colour driver extension for the White Fusion kit

OK, I run the PHR @ 100mah (max @109mah), LOC @ 360mah (max 391mah).
The green I havn't a clue? Anyone know what to set the driver output at for a 50mw O Like module?

Lovely Stuff!
