Thanks so much! I got it today. I got the V1 Kryton barrel with the knurled option. It looks sharp and works great! What I'm looking for now is a dust cap for it.

Hmmm... I don't know how it would look, but one really easy fix for that is the same thing I did with my Mini Mag Green build...

I glued an AixiZ focus ring on there. That way I could put a silicone tail cap on as a dust cap...

I got my focusing adaptor Jay!


And i love it. Well, to be honest, i loved it the moment i saw it here.

Unfortunatelly i was too busy so far to get the barrel assembled, but as soon as time permits, i will.


I just can't decide what to put in it first.

Obviously a very hot diode belongs in there, but i also have a bunch of GGW 6x's of horrendously low efficiency (peaking as low as 155-165mW at 200mA), and would like to test how long they can survive that...

Since the Kenbarrel is nothing but a huge bulky piece of aluminum, it'll do GREAT as a reference build, eliminating any heat issues, regardless of how long it is left on, so i think the first diodes i will put in it are these low efficiency 6x's, and then test the shit out of them to see if they are any good, or total crap.

After that i'm not sure yet. But i'm sure i'll think of something when the time cimes,,,


But anyway, the focusing adapter is great! I love it! It was the only thing missing, and now i have a perfectly functioning massive host.


Also, i'm very glad i went for the "Knurled" option. How do you do that BTW?

I like the knurling too...

It is done on the lathe with a special tool made specifically for knurling. I have a scissors type like so:



The key is to get the spindle speed correct, depending on the diameter of the piece that you want to knurl.

The tricky part is knurling small parts like the EzFocus adapters. For the different ones that I make, I have custom made adapters to hold the parts far enough away from the lathe chuck, so that I can get the knurling tool in the correct position without hitting the lathe chuck with the tool...
