here is well collimated 405-G-1  lens
Output now 322mW !!!

ignore hexagonal artifact, as well as black dots near the center. The damn thing burns everything, including wall !!

Here is red open can with cheap aixiz glass lens -now 275mW    
ignore oval artifact in upper left side, but note cross line as well as "12 o'clock" vertical splash

and finally
here is red with 404-G-1 lens now 307mW

ignore oval artifect over still existing vertical splash.
Note smaller dot and longer cross line

hehe, it was hard to have it collimated and take photos quickly before permanent marks are burned in. :)))

Is this comparing the 405-G-1 glass lens vs AixiZ acrylic with red?

I asked the guy I work with that has a master's in optics and he said the line is most likely it is some stray light reflection off the diode face in a pattern that ends up getting focused in a line, but he wasn't sure. Just what he thought off the top of his head.

This line across the center is much more noticeable with the red builds that we are used to...

I don't even notice the line with blu-ray unless I am trying to look at the dot 'up close'.

I found that it is best to focus it with safty glasses on, then you can really look at the beam and get the best burn. You have to keep it moveing though. I'm useing it with a Igort 6X 1st batch 186 mw. It goes very good with the lens. ;D

Just to Add my Findings....

I took one of my Kenom builds.....measured 105mW on my meter

With this lens 140mW Steady...maybe even a tad more!

Axiz Acrylic lenses just plain STINK for a bluray build!!!!!

Just curious, was the back of your AixiZ acrylic lens opened?

I did my comparisons with the AixiZ acrylic (back opened), and got 26 to 28% increase...

Yes....the back of the acrylic lens was open.


Jay..your lens had made this Kenom build come to LIFE!!!!!

Can't believe I didn't see this sooner. Looking forward to seeing what my improved 200mW blu-ray can do!  :cool:
