Someone can post beam shots at night with this lens ?
Comparison would be useful *:

Thats one of the rare pictures that display the correct colors of a blue-ray.

I'll get some beam comparison shots when it gets dark.

Actually, you could probably see better beam shots with smoke in garage light...

Any information on if IgorT was getting as much noise or "slash" with his lenses?

Just got my blu-ray lenses in, along with a kit and some flexdrives (thanks DrLava!).

I don't have blu-ray diodes yet to try them out with but will put them in and try out the lenses as soon as I do!

TheGr8Revealing, I have tried several times to contact Igor. He needs to get one of these bare lenses to compare...

He contacted me a while back to have me take pictures of the 'splash' from a Meredith glass lens. Because he said all of the lenses have some of this. Some really bad, some not as bad. That's why I want him to check this one out!

But he must be really scrambling with his taxes and stuff...

Dang, that sucker is bright! * * How would the picture turn out if you took a snap shot of all three of the dots next to each other?

VERY bright! And burns your fingers trying to focus! At this power, an acrylic lens will degrade fast...

I tried to get the dots using white paper because the new build burns everything it touches! 8-)

As you can see, it kept burning the white paper too.

These pictures are still washed out even with the blu-blocker glasses in front of the camera lens.

I had to put the 405-G-1 lens out of focus to keep it from burning the white paper...

Jay, just a thought.

Since I know you're not looking to make money off these, do you think it would be possible/helpful to recommend these lenses to the good folks at Aixiz? They make or buy the red lenses already in nuts from somewhere, so maybe they could more easily/cheaply get blu-ray lenses in nuts made from the same source. Making the nut fit the blu-ray lens the first time should be just as easy as making it fit the red lens, and from this thread, it's very clear they could sell tons of them. Maybe it's just a matter of getting them in touch with the people you get the lens from, so they can put their nut manufacturer together with the lens maker. (Does this make any sense whatsoever?)

Maybe it could be a good opportunity for everyone? And maybe even get you a "finder's fee" for the contacts

I have left them two messages about the lens modification...

Only because I was trying to find out if I could just buy the nut and retaining ring without optics. No reply...

I'm sure there are people working on this lens besides me...

In fact, I know that the guy who sells these 405-G-1 lenses on e-bay (Will), said that he is working on getting the lenses mounted.

So if you guys end up liking the lens, at least I contributed by finding a way to mount it successfully in both AixiZ as well as Meredith!

What an exciting hobby, and an exciting time to be in the hobby. Really, just in the last year alone, we've gone from DIY red with whatever you can scrounge up as the only really widely accessible DIY, to this huge, wide assortment of red and violet!!! diodes and accessories such as this lens, with the cool pre-made drivers from rckstr and dr.lava, the hosts such as kenom's, the heatsinks and custom parts such as you (jayrob) and darkhorse, susie's modules to make green DIY very easy.

It's amazing.

For some reason that camera takes true color pictures of the violet beam. It's an Olympus C-8080 that they probably don't even make anymore...

You will need it over 6x limits. Toast the plastic lens and the fumes may trash the diode.

GooeyGus, in the first post I show good details of the modification and the e-bay link to the bare lens if you want to just buy the lens and do the mod yourself.

Also, take a look at the pictures and comments on the 'side splash' that is similar to Meredith glass lenses.

But let me know if you want me to send you one ready to install with the finger grip focus ring and everything...
