Nice! 420mW's at what current? And is it a BDR-203 8X?

It's a great compilation! I think it deserves it's own thread and stickied as well!

Soon enough it will start to include 12X diodes. It is great to be able to see all of the information in one spot. It looks like the 8X diodes seem to be holding up very well! :)

I tested a couple of my blu ray pointers with both the standard Aixiz lens and Jayrobs 405-G-1 lens. Here are the numbers.

PHR at 167ma:
Aixiz 144mw
405-G-1 175mw

That's a 21% improvement. Very nice. Now lets test my baby.

BDR-203 at 360ma:
Aixiz 336mw
405-G-1 463mw

That is a 37% improvement! Wow. Seems like the more power you have the more you NEED a 405-G-1 lens on a BR for sure.

Just thought I'd share.

37%!!!

Is that with a new arylic lens or one you partly melted with almost half a watt of power?

It was the aixiz lens from the PHR so it was slightly used.

37% does seem out of the ordinary. Maybe the AixiZ did not have the back opened??

It has been very consistent around 26% vs AixiZ acrylic. (back opened)

Anyway, sounds like a really nice 8X build!

Jay, the Aixiz was completely stock. I have not ever opened up any Aixiz at all. Maybe I should and report back? I guess you mean just carefully drill the rear opening to as large as possible?

Most people just cut it open with an X-acto blade...

I have done all my power comparisons vs AixiZ acrylic with the 'back opened', because this is what is most commonly done with the AixiZ acrylic lens.

Not sure with a blu-ray, but with a red build, the plastic will start to melt if you do not cut it open. I would imagine a blu-ray will do the same.

Your 8X will even melt the acrylic lens!

Anyway, opening the back of the acrylic lens lets more light out. So the power measurement will be affected. That's why you got a 37% increase with the 405-G-1 glass lens. Because your comparison was with a non-opened AixiZ acrylic...

Makes perfect sense Jay. I looked at the back of the Aixiz I was using and it is indeed melted. I opened it up and tested, my output actually dropped about 20mw. I opened a new aixiz and got the same thing. I tested a new un-opened aixiz and the power increased over the open back aixiz. This now make no sense. The open back will let more light through, why did power decrease?

For sure the open AixiZ will let more light out and give more power. I am just guessing, but it is possible that your driver may be dropping out because of the high forward voltage.

Are you testing with your 8X build? Or did you also try comparing with a different build.


Also, check to see if the lens got scratched. It is easy to accidently scratch the lens when you cut the back open...

I tested the aixiz with back opened and stock with my PHR build. Now that you mentioned a scratched lens I checked the aixiz and yes, I did scratch it. :( That would explain the lower readings for sure.

Jay you must be some type of physic to know these things without me telling you. It's sort of creepy. ;)
