Great lens jay! ive only got to try it on my red because my blu-ray just died(the day before the lens arrived) but it works GREAT on my red, and cant wait till my blu-rays up and running again, i know its gonna be sweet! Excellent customer service, look foward to doing business with you again!

Are there any alternatives to this? I'm still only using PHRs, since I don't have the money for a 6x or better, which also means that a $55-dollar lens assembly is unjustified, for me.

For a PHR, an acrylic lens is fine...

It's only when you get to the 200mW neighborhood that you will have increased degradation with acrylic using blu-ray.

There is also an AixiZ glass for 405nm which will give you similar quality and increase in power as their normal AixiZ glass lens does for red. (about 4% or 5% increase)

I'm not too worried about the degradation, more about I want just a *little* more power. Like Tim Taylor, only, on a budget...

EDIT: Found out that the ones on Modwerx ARE the Aixiz ones. (Well, I deduced it based on the fact they look the exact same).
Also, to make sure I understand: if I paid the $28 + $2 shipping, I would get the lens only, without your custom spacer? Or would I be able to get the lens and the spacer, and just buy a $5 Aixiz glass for reds (it looks like that's the one you're using; am I right?), and put it together myself?

For the 405-G-1, the bare lens is $28 plus $2 dollars shipping...

But that's just for the bare lens only.

To mount it, I do some machine work on the AixiZ glass brass nut. It gets drilled out to fit the lens. It also gets the end drilled out larger to have a larger entry aperture to the lens.

The other parts of the assembly are the custom spacer/retainer, and the AixiZ focus ring...

The machining I could *probably* do myself, at least to a reasonably satisfactory level. How much would you charge for just the lens and the spacer/retainer? Or do you have some idea as to an alternative to your custom spacer/retainer?

If you found the perfect size spring, you could use a spring to hold the lens in place instead of the custom retainer and threaded ring...
