Mine arrived either yesterday or Friday (not sure which) and I must say, it's amazing how much power increased by! From about 93mW with Acryllic, now my PHR peaks at over 120mW, which works out at a 29% increase. I haven't had a chance to try it out with my SF-AW210s, but I will probably put one of those in a host (the same as your DIY green host) and custom heatsink, and have around 300mW in a handheld! (Presuming the LavaDrive can provide the voltage)

I can get some nice pics and long-range burning done some time around Wednesday, but for now a + rep will have to suffice...

Thanks for posting back Charlie! :)

I was just wondering yesterday if you got your 405-G-1 glass lens yet...

Yes, the FlexDrive will handle the BDR 8X diodes (which have a higher forward voltage), up to about 300mA's max per Dr. Lava. At that current, an 8X will give you about 400mW's (405-G-1 lens) depending on diode efficiency! :cool:

I have a FlexDrive build in a Pocket Mini/BDR set at 292mA's giving 375mW's with my glass lens mod. My diode is a low efficiency diode, but maybe it will last longer! (I hope)

My IgorT 6x blu was putting out 176.1mW. With your lens swap, it now puts out 225.6mW

176... "point one"?!?

Damn, what kind of LPM do you have that measures down to a tenth of a mW??? Now how cool is that :cool:

David and Goliath...

Now that I have two proper BRs I was finally able to view both the 405-G-1 and standard acrylic AixiZ side by side. This proves that the 405-G-1 doesn't add anything new to the so-called diode "splash", but simply magnifies it. No one saw it before because no one took the time to look...

(... 'cause they were too busy burning stuff, as it should be :D)

(L) IgorT 6X @199mW w/AixiZ acryllic and (R) Daguin 6X w/405-G-1 @236mW

Hmm...

How come we did not see this with an acrylic lens?

Well now you've got me... :thinking:

I'm of course assuming Igor used a standard acrylic... but I haven't "verified" it. you know how Igor is with his super-cleaning, so I didn't want to remove the lens...

I will say this; you have to have it perfectly focused on a nearby surface to see the rectangle. Once you project it more than a meter away the rectangle is no longer visible...

So you have to focus them on a black anodized-sanded metal plate, otherwise they will burn everything....:tinfoil:

Absolutely!

With a Kryton, I recommend getting my Kryton EzFocus adapter as well...

This lens will burn your fingers bad! And the Kryton is difficult to focus unless you have this:

KFA5.jpg

* 405-G-1 glass lens mod - $55
* Kryton EzFocus adapter (knurled/1st run smooth barrel Kryton) - $24
* Shipping - $3

Sending PM...

:thanks:
