That one has no driver board (to get the contact points), I believe he said that somewhere in this thread...

Would this build work in the Cree DIY Flashlight that looks to be the same as the C6 used in this build?

Yes you can make that one work, but you just have to build it different. (or supply a driver board)

Because ossumguywill said, it does not come with the driver board...

Jay,

Is there any way I could order one of these kits set up from you for a 1xRCR123 setup and a 532 module? Would that work?

I've got three of them from you so far, doing 405, 445 and now 635. I'd love to find a way to get 532 into this host, focusable somehow using the same lenses in front, even with short runtimes, just to have a matching set.

Making it focusable will be the hard part for a green...

But I have a focusable host for green and after I tried it out, I took my green module out of that host, and now the host is empty.

The reason, is because a good DPSS green module has such a nice thin beam, that focusing it only degrades it. (IMO)

About this host for a green. It will easily fit any standard 12mm green module using an RCR123. (or CR123)

The exact same parts shown in my DIY Green thread fit this host. The only difference is the shape of the outer barrel. All the insides are the same:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-diy-green-kit-host-heatsink-easy-assembly-22520.html

So yes, you can easily put a green module in the host shown here in this thread.

And by the same token, you can easily do this same build shown here, using that DIY Green host! :)

Well, cool. Need to put together an order from you for that then.

Question; Could you - even though I know you say it's counterproductive - at least thread the "small exit hole" to fit an AixiZ-type lens thread and nut anyhow?

Part of it would be, I may just put an empty sleeve in to get a matching look. But I also may want to experiment with a lens on there anyhow and learn the hard way :)

Yes I can thread it to fit AixiZ threads if you want...

I suppose you could make it work that way if you took off the final lens from your green module. Then adjusted the position of the module so that your AixiZ threaded lens would be focusing the laser.

Sounds interesting! But once you mess with it, you will see what I mean when I said that it ruins the green when you try and focus it...

Send me a PM for ordering! :)

Hi Jay, I got my SS 18650 and C3 hosts and they are BEAUTIFUL!!:yh: I plan to start assembly
on the SS 18650 right away but still waiting for the diode for the C3. Thanks again for the help and excellent work I really appreciate it!

Jay you already know this and it looks like it in your pics and tutorials but you really do some EXCELLENT work and it is reflected in everything I got from you from the EZ-Focusers to the work on the driver pill and especially the modules and heat sinks!! Thanks again!!

Module??

Ah... you got that copper press fit heatsink/module for your SS C3 kit now I remember...

That's a sweet little build... I'm offering that heatsink design with a few of my kits now days. The Pocket Mini, SS C3, SS C2, and SS 10440... (but I haven't been able to source the SS 10440 hosts for a few months now)

Glad you like the kits and thanks for posting back! :)

Hope your builds go well...

Hi, I'd like to build my first 445nm kit and even tho I have pretty good basics in electronic in general, I'm new to lasers. I only bought the diode yet and I was wondering what would be the best build kit if I want this handheld laser to be able to stay arround 1W for 1 or 2 minutes continuously without burning the diode (I don't know if that's realistic but anyway...) I'm ready to pay what it takes to have a good build kit, ideally black, with a good heatsink, etc.

Thanks.

PS: Could someone tell me more about the "options" available for that kind of build kit (hot, etc...?)

Jean.

I offer a 'Hot' option with most of my kits. This means that the driver is included. And also installed, with current set, and lead wires soldered on ready for your diode. (which is most of the work)

Or if you get a basic host/heatsink kit, then you will be removing the stock driver components, and installing your driver, etc...

This Black 18650 kit is one of the easiest to assemble. And will handle a 1 Amp setting for a 1 or 2 minute duty just fine with the copper heatsink.

But a much larger heatsink design is used in my SolarForce kit. Which is also a really easy assembly. So I would recommend this kit, or that one. See here:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-solarforce-l2p-kit-18650-host-massive-heatsink-53746.html

Send me a private message for your list of options, or pre-order questions! :)

Jay if the SS 10440 host is ever available again I think I may need a couple of them at least! Those are really sweet! Thanks,
