shipping out of Slovenia is also very slow

I would guess the issue isn't in Slovenia... IF there is an issue at all. Perhaps Speed has just been slow transferring the package to the international carrier? But...

My bet is US Customs. Single lasers addressed to single addresses probably sneak through just fine... but larger packs (multipacks) will have to endure more rigorous inspection - including being opened and checked over. If they find the contents to be 'suspect', they'll simply let it sit until they're ready to either call or send a letter (a real paper letter) to the recipient identifying the package, it's contents, and requesting further information. They'll want to know values, uses, etc etc etc...

Last year I was dealing with an Italian manufacturer to bring some product samples over to Ohio. The first 5 or 6 came through quickly, no delays, about 9-10 days total time from shipment to receipt. So we placed an order for 50 samples to distribute to a few of our clients. These were paper coating samples, mind you - nothing as technical as a laser or 'LED Flashlight'. The Italians sent them and it was 3 weeks later we finally got a letter from US Customs asking for proof of order, business use, value, etc. It was another 2 weeks after supplying them with this info that we got the product samples, and they were in rather poor shape.

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

point is i think people is only trying to find out if their lasers have been sent or not!!doesnt matter if they are taking long to arrive.....just would be nice and reassuring to know if they actually are on their way
nobody has doubts about igor, everybody know you wont probably find another person as reliable and professional as him
i only decided to invest in one of igor's BR after weeks of browsing and reading the forum, so i know i will get what i paid for, but it is frustrating not to know what is going on (i mean has the laser been sent or not?)that is all

Completely agree! I just want to know if my laser was sent or not :) And the gmail issues happening the last days didn't help at all...

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

First it was going around in circles, then it finally went to the right continent, only to get stuck at the customs. I had to fill out and fax a new shipping manifest a few days ago, declaring that it is not for commercial use, and that the contents are packages from a non profit "LED Flashlight DIY Upgrade Kit group buy".

But it seems that did the trick, as it was released and delivered to Glenn just now! It's there! Batch #1 will finally get their lasers, batch #2 is soon to follow. :D

I used another carrier for batch #2 cos i'm getting sick of this freight forwarder. They screwed me over before.... Instead i will use the shipping screwup refund money to do something nice for the poor people from batch #1, who had to wait so long.. Most of you already know what..

I was getting worried, when it was held at the customs for so long, with the status saying "Exception", but it seems my disguises work well. ;) The problem seems to have been more bureaucratic in nature...

At least it's over now. I can relax. The stress was killing me! I could barelly work with so much pressure.

In other news, i managed to answer approx one half of emails, i will try to do the rest ASAP! If yours was not answered yet, it will be next up. Right now i'm focusing on finishing batch #3, so i am limiting my email time to late evenings only, but it will all be over soon..

Wait... what did 'usakicksass' call me? I think it was naysayer, wasn't it? Yes, yes, I'm sure that was it... only to find out I was CORRECT - customs was the hold up, as usual.  They're perfectly content to let single packs fly through - but larger multi-item boxes... they give it hell.

Great news for Batch #1'ers!   :)
As a Batch #2A and #2B, I would not be surprised if there is a similar delay in customs in the USA or any other country.

Anyway ... congrats Batch #1  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

**EDIT** - I removed my shipping 'idea'. After further digging, the hand-off between 'Speed' and 'FedEx' is not what I thought it would be. Costs would be higher than I expected - high enough that I'm fairly sure this wouldn't help.

Yes, I got the multipack of Batch #1 and it is nearly certain that none of these were opened at all. ;)

I didn't get a lazor in that batch but DID get something else. (6x diode) I've been waiting just as long as you guys and haven't bitched once. I had 2 inquiries to glenn but they were just a "did they get sent to you?" and a "any update" inquiries

You've also been around longer, have a good reputation, and most likely are accustomed to these projects and their potential delays (with shipping, DX, etc...).  Ironically, I've sent exactly ONE email to Igor asking if my order shipped - it was on Jan 23, 2009 and was told it was "shipping the week of Jan 27th".  Almost 5 weeks ago.  All other messages that have gone back and fourth I specifically made sure NOT to press for shipping info, instead focusing on figuring out power requirements and keeping busy learning how these new diodes work. I've kept my energy in this thread for the (potential) benefit of others - so people can get info without bugging Igor (or Glenn) and further slowing build and ship times...

The rest of this post is not directed at Kenom or any other member specifically:
I guess what I'm saying is that people will finally get their orders and some will hang out and contribute to the community and know what to expect on future buys and projects.  The other people were just here to get a BR laser like they (probably) saw on YouTube or some other source and will be gone after theirs arrives.

I know for the guys that have been around here for awhile it's annoying as hell to have new people on your board poking around and whining because they are curious where their order is, how to do things, etc etc etc - but try and have some patience.  We are ALL are here for the same reason, right?  And this buy is bringing new people in from all over the world - accelerating EVERYONE's ability to get in on the custom lens buy - which was the point in the 1st place, right?

Not a big deal, I just think not many people expected 6-8 week wait times, that's all.  Next time (if there is one), it'll be easier and people will know what to expect, right?  And that is how new members become more experienced older members. I know I, for one, am getting ready to order an IgorT Red in a black host as soon as he has a bit more time.

And then 8x's will truly come out, and the whole damn process starts again... except it'll be the new guys (who will then be 'old' guys) posting in the thread to 'relax' and 'quit your bitching' while negative rep'ing people who ask simple questions.  Fun fun fun!  Forums are for bringing communities of people with similar interests together - it's good for the site's owner and his click-through rates.  It's good for other members who want better pricing on group buys. It's good to have new people learning and enjoying the hobby (and contributing new builds and ideas too).

ALL THAT SAID : THANKS GLENN for getting Batch #1 USA turned around and re-shipped so quickly.  I'm sure the guys and gals in that order are very appreciative!
