Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

I have this theory on diode efficiency and their toughness.. Since i will use the (so called) "weaklings" for my torture-tests, i might just be surprised by the end results! I mentioned my theory before in other threads, but i won't go into details, until the torture-tests are finished (= diodes dead)..

When i bought my first 6x diode for $350 just a few months back, and "only" got 193mW at 200mA, i thought my diode was low efficiency.. I thought "just my luck".. I was told i'd get 200mW at 180-200mA!

Now i see the ones that do 193mW at 200mA are actually the good ones. Then there are some that do almost exactly 200mW at 200mA, and one overshot and went to 227!

But my "low efficiency" $350 6x diode has been through so much by now, and not only is it still alive, it is currently putting out 260mW through the medium custom lens!

It's been degrading, and i said it would die soon numerous times, but it keeps "dissapointing" me.. In a good way.. ;)

I was wrong when i thought i got a bad one. And how! I got a good one... A very good one!

By now it's been through so much, that it would have survived over a year in a normal user's hands... Maybe two. And it's still going strong. Even if it dies tomorrow, it would have been an amazing diode. I just hope the others are like it!

This is the reason i am willing to go this high with 6x diodes, when it comes to power. In my hands, a >150mW PHR only lives a week or two. Three at best. Unless of course i don't use it. But you can't call that "living".

As much as it hurts, i WILL need to do a competition between a freak and a "weakling" 6x, both set to the same power, just to test the theory. This means one very efficient diode is going to suffer on the cycler... The weaklings are all condemned allready... ;)

But it's possible, the lower efficiency diodes could turn out to be better than it seems right now. We shall see.. ;)

They would definitelly make good medium high power lasers, like you said.. And thats worth something too. Cos right now, we don't really have a diode that is reliable at 150-160mW. Sometimes 4x's can survive that, but of

Yeah, thanks for telling me about this :D

I PM'd you igor, I'm real interested in one of your tiny AAA lasers :)

Are you sure they billed you twice? Sometimes a CC transaction appears twice, first as reserved amount, then it moves from reserved amounts into transactions, but sometimes it is not immediatelly deleted from reserved amounts, and it makes it look as if it's charged twice. Until the reserved amount is deleted, then you see it's only one transaction.

It was 2 actual charges, with 2 different PayPal ID's - however, 1 was reversed yesterday :-/ ?? So I am now down to my original charge, and FINALLY my order says that it is being packaged for shipment. I assume it will ship soon, maybe in the next day or 2.

I'll send you a PM re: laser status - I'm not sure whether you're holding a battery for me or not. Sounds like the 1st reports are coming in that people are getting their lasers and quality is higher than 'excellent' - but no real surprise there. I read a ton of reviews before placing my order - thanks again for you hard work, you've made many-a-laser-geek immensely happy.

PS - NICE FREAKING WORK on doing your own board etching!

You have to be a little patient with IgorT. He is an extremely busy man.

If you've PM'd him in the last couple days, give him a chance to catch up - Batch #2 was extremely time consuming and he has 'real' work to handle as well. Couple that with a blown computer and you've got a recipe for needing beer.

Pinetree09...Have you tried this? I've noticed not everyone on here responds to PM's as fast as they do to Emails.

I don't understand how you can have two PayPal transactions, if YOU didn't make them.. :-?

Like i said, DX can not just charge your PP account. Nobody can. You have to confirm each payment with your password. The only possibilities i see are PP system error, or someone else poking around your PP account. However the latter is nearly impossible, since they wouldn't go to DX, if they were hijacking your PP account..

As for the lasers and the batteries. Last week i shipped those, who said "I don't need a battery pack" and then confirmed, they have the correct ones (Blue PROTECTED TrustFire 14500 - links are in second post of this thread).

I now got a few more emails saying they don't need batteries, so i'm shipping those too.

If anyone else from batch #2 or #3 doesn't need a battery pack, please write me, to expedite the shipping. Otherwise, i will have to wait for batteries and ship it all together...

The worst thing that could possibly happen to someone, is to get the laser but not have the batteries. It would drive you mad. ;D

I need to call our customs, check for an update it's a lot of packagees, but i hope they are processed.... Only potential issue is, that i don't have a credit card statement to proove the price, since i was ordering with PP balance... :-/

I placed this large battery order, so that i would always have batteries for everyone who needs them, and now just this caused the problem... Or at least part of it... (The number of laser orders increased the numbers and amounts of my part orders)

Oh man, i have 24 unanswered PMs! :-/ :-[

Could you please write me an EMAIL instead. I keep saying that. Use email! I get email faster. That goes for anyone trying to reach me. Use email if you want a fast response!

I need to work through the 24 PMs, but when? I can hardly keep up with the work, if i don't write whole books for answers... Now that i have 6x diodes... Well, batch #2 and #3 were crazy, and #3 is still growing! There are only 8 spots in #3, so the time of reservation matters, so people please, EMAIL me.

Otherwise, my largest customer from my "real" work called me yesterday, while i was making lasers. They said they had a big project for me. I told them to get in the line, cos i have lasers to make. (I'm not kidding..)

I'm gonna have to make the lasers an official product of my company. Mostly because i am being forced to import the parts on my company, and then they can't just dissapear into thin air, there have to be invoices for the pars i use up and so on, otherwise the tax mafia would rip me a new one. Another reason is, that i am telling my "real" customers to get in the row. Luckily i am registered for this type of stuff (electronics R&D)... ::)

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

Woot! I think i answered all the PM's, except for those, who wrote me an email too, and i answered there..
Now there is just a few emails left, and i'm done... If i forgot a PM, please write me again, but not a PM, an email!

But man. I need to make lasers, not just talk about them!

I will need to hire help, someone, who will answer my emails, so that i can focus on my work. ;D
Cos otherwise, i am answering emails from the morning to the evening. I can't do both. It just doesn't work...
