Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

Oh, i have a similar problem with the batteries..

Everyone in batch #1 needed an "emergency battery pack" so i'm out completelly. I am waiting on the next battery package, which will be enough for everyone, but since many of you requested a pack, i have to wait till it gets here.. :(

Luckily my package was shipped to me before Chinese hollidays, and is already at our customs.. So it should be there early next week. If i'm lucky, Monday or Tuesday!

P.S. This battery delay only affect main model orders who requested a battery pack. The CR123 lasers were not affected, as i already had those batteries....

They should be shipping again soon - they corrected an error in my order and mine is now tracking correctly, though it still says 'In processing'.  I've never had much luck ordering from Chinese suppliers - but it sounds like everyone here has had mostly positive experiences with DX.

Thanks for keeping everyone updated Igor...

Lol, reminds me of my childhood Christmases and getting the coolest "must have" toy, but having no batteries for it... and this of course, on Christmas day when all the stores are closed...  :D

'course, "we" should be old enough by now to have arranged for our own batteries, sigh...  :-[

Igor

If I had a 6x running at 165 mw with a rkcstr driver running at wait what would the ma be for 165mw?

Ok what would be the power with 165mw before the ar coated 25 buck one and what would be the power after?

1. What ma do you need to get 165mw out of a 6x diode.

2. What would be the power difference with a arylic lens and one of those werid ar special one's.

3. what could I power my 6x that has a rkcstr driver with I was thinking a eight aaa battery holder using 8 rechargable 900 ma aaa's adding up to 8.6 volts.
For number three if that wouldn't work me tell why and if it would is there anyother ways I could power it at 9v if it's using battery's give me to a link to the batteries and battery holder.

Thanks.

Also nice lasers!!!

Auslasersuck,

For reliable measurement you'll need to get yourself an LPM. This is an essential part of your research and development, or should be, prior to production.

Igor (and others) have been generous enough to share their findings in this forum anyways. I have read the answers to your questions, so can you.

It is because of his sharing of laser and electronics knowledge that I first contemplated buying from Igor in the first place. (Build quality made me buy more)

If you don't have the equipment, you're selling by guesswork or at best theoretical power figures alone!!

Plus - Igor develops his own driver as well which delivers a strong and stable current to the laser, thus a strong and stable beam. And cooling is key in his lasers as well. As a matter of fact, I think it's heat that has the most adverse effect on these diodes.

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

Disaster struck! Or rather our anal customs did.. Same thing..  :'(

I found the batteries. They are close, and yet so far.  :-/

Due to a stupid coincidence (aka Murphy's Law), 10 different orders from DX, placed on different days, were all shipped on the same day, and all packages arrived at our customs on the same day. The customs officials noticed they all have the same shipping address, decided it would be more fun to keep them all and send me a letter instead. A form, requesting invoices and proof of price for every single package! (even one with nothing but GITD tail-caps!  )

This means they are gonna rip me a new one, before i can get to my stuff.

To make things worse, they decided that all this stuff can not possibly be for personal use, so the form they sent me is a business form, meant for companies.

I now have to import everything officially on my company, and pay 25-30% on EVERYTHING! And i'm gonna have to pay with real money, not PayPal money. Since i can't get money out of PayPal, this is gonna hurt!

Up until now, i was able to avoid this, by spreading my orders out a bit, a few days between all orders. But since DX does not necessarily ship in the order the orders are placed.... Well... I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.

I'm gonna try to get the batteries released separatelly, first, deal with the rest later....

But just in case i would like to ask those of you from 6x batch #2, who asked for an "emergency battery pack" with your laser, to let me know if you want/need me to wait for them. Check your DX account. Maybe your batteries and charger were shipped already... Depending on when, you may not need the extra pack.

I will try to sort this out ASAP! But if you have the batteries sorted out, please let me know that you don't need them, in case i can't get the battery package out separatelly. (This only matters if you ordered the main model and requested a battery pack.)

Sorry for the delay..  :-/

P.S. I've been at work since the morning to the evening the last two days, so i haven't been checking my emails. If there is anything urgent, please PM me, i will go through and answer all the emails tomorrow night, when i (hopefully) have some time.

P.P.S. I moved the additional batch #2 orders (the ones that were added later) into their own new batch, it was just too many! That's what i'm finishing now. Just a little bit of patience please, i am working as fast as i can. I just never had this many orders all at once before, on top of that there are multiple builds i have to do as favors or counterfavors, so i will work now, talk later, if that's ok. Simply can't do both at once at this moment (answering my emails usually takes hours which i don't have right now). Most of the stuff is done, the rest is being finalized.

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

This is the reason i ask you to include "invoices" with EVERY SINGLE package. I need invoices with everything sent to me from outside EU, or i get into trouble. But DX stuff usually passed easily, up untill now. It's the quantity of the packages at once, that caused this.. :(

It's one thing when they just tax me on stuff i buy. That's the law, and when i import for my company officially i abide by that. But if i did the same with all the laser parts, i'd have to raise my prices by 25% or making them simply wouldn't be worth my time...

This crap also makes presents or trades from abroad impossible! Our customs don't believe in gifts. Everyone marks packages as "Gift" these days, so they just ignore that. But sometimes people do actually want to send a present or trade something, and i am forced to decline or fabricate an "invoice"..

Problem is, if it looks expensive and i don't have invoice AND credit card statement to proove the price (how could i with gifts or trades?!?), our customs actually go online, look for the most expensive price on that thing, and want to tax me on that!

Even more ridiculous is, when i import stuff on my company officially. There i do want to pay the correct taxes, but our customs don't understand, that as a distributor i get certain stuff cheaper than official sales price! They go online and want to charge me on the sale price, instead of what i actually pay!

BTW, this is one of the reasons i make my lasers so modular. If one ever needs a new diode or an upgrade, all that has to be sent to me is the tiny module from the head. They wouldn't tax me on an 18x27mm aluminum cylinder... ;)

But there are special shipping instructions to follow in those cases. Every shipment has to be arranged with me first, to ensure avoiding this type of crap.

power hungry customs a$$hoals  you would think all you describe isn't worth their time Igor, but apparently they get something out of it.

How about channeling their thirst for power into lasers like the rest of us, and not into persecuting citizens? We at least can treat each other right, and burn other things.

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

I PM'ed you in re: to my order.  There are a couple suppliers for these 14500 batteries in the USA - I can order one from them, so unless you have already gotten the customs issue worked out, you can go ahead and ship - I'll get the batts figured out, that problem shouldn't fall on to your lap - building a great laser is your job, powering it is mine.   ;)

I'm thinking of canceling my DX order - 2.5 weeks and they still haven't shipped a simple battery 2-pack and charger.  Holiday is over.  What's the deal?  They also have decided not to respond to support inquiries either.  Gotta love VISA fraud protection.

The cost of the battery/charger combo is more money from Battery Junction, but they're in Connecticut and ship next day.  I just have never had luck ordering from Chinese suppliers.

I'm also not 100% sure these are the correct batteries - thought they say 14500 at 3.6V, the mAh are different?  DX lists them as 3.6V 900mAh, and BatteryJunction shows them at 3.6V 800 mAh.  I won't lose any sleep over 100mAh, but I can't help thinking one of the 2 has these batts listed incorrectly.

**EDIT** - It appears these batteries from Battery Junction are NOT protected - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as I know, he is trying to get things shipped ASAP. I paid a couple weeks ago, and assumed it might take him a couple weeks to get all the parts in and everything built and shipped. Each one is a custom build, essentially... if he hasn't answered emails and PMs it probably means he is building lasers. ;)

Don't stress it, he has a tremendous reputation on here for making high quality stuff and delivering. I expect he'll be shipping any day now...

That bites
Same story in Austria too (and I guess it's EU-wide). As for the "business form", can't you just tell them that you are a hobbyist and you're building a few flashlights (or whatever) for your local buddies...?

I'm going to need that emergency pack... DX finally shipped the Dilda I ordered on 11th Jan. yesterday ( ::)) but... not the CR2 batteries I ordered at the same time...   That's 'cause the batteries are still pending. Never mind the 14500s I ordered on the 20th... they will be in pending mode 'till Spring...  :'(

p.s. I will pay for the extra customs / taxes on those batteries along with my next purchase (that*cough*backup*cough* u know what  ;))
