Go with the batteries and charger i recommend in the second post of this thread. I always use these, they fit nicelly, they are protected and work good.

The ones in your link are one and the same, yes...

Otherwise, you should slowly write me an email, and ask any questions you may have. :)

Hi Sam, good review and nice pictures ;)! Glad that you're enjoining your new IgorT BR (mine is sleeping in Italy, it miss me a lot :'()
Don't worry, having seen your burning test on paper, you need only a piece of wood to make a good pyrographic work! ;D

Cheers Franco, hope your enjoying CA ;)

just bought me a plane ticket to Italy, just oof to go and take care of your lasers ;)

guess I'm gonna have to find me some wood then.....hmmm just started lookin at my LaserbeeI ::), lol I think maybe I should leave that till I get a bit better. Did I ever send you the pics of it ?  they're at the end of the of the laserbee GB thread http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1225241169/220#220 mind you I've finished it off now so it looks a lot tidier.

Does it matter what type of wood you use for pyrography, or is one type easier to burn than another?

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

Im currently running my 4x br @ 161.3mA. Havent tested the output by meter.

Burns black headed match less than 1sec when focused right. Just a little snap to the button burns skin. ( btw, human nerves are sloooooooow )

Visibility at night didnt chance a bit when viewing at night when chancing from 120 to 160ma , but burning doubled.

Sam, did you by any chance shine the BR at the envelope it came in?

Interestingly enough our envelopes glow in a very unusual color. But the envelopes i get from other countries never do.

Arrrgggghhh it's burning .........ok thats better unfocused the light looks white on the brown areas of the envlope, not sure how this would compare to other brown envlopes will have to wait till I get some more deliveries.

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

I received my Blu-Ray laser on Monday, as Sam did. (Liked your review, b.t.w.  An honest and accurate description)

Due to a bout of influenza, I've only just started to experiment with it .  .  .   .

.   .    .          .          .      and   WOW, this is cool !!

It lights ordinary, pink matches in less than a second. Balloons burst straight away across the room.

I've scorched my name in balsa-wood, too!

Excellent build, thanks to Igor " the tech-man "  Teichman  ;) ;D :D

Well, i meant in parallel focus, Sam.. ;D Not focused for burning.

But isn't it a strange glow? :D

Lol yeah I know what you meant Igor but it was focused for burning from my earlier attack on the paper [smiley=evil.gif]

your right though it is a strange glow the white light of the envlope almost makes the laser seem torch like.

Cheers WizzardKing ;)

Is the yellow light which excited by 405nm laser harmful to our eyes?
Is that suitable for lighting?

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

What yellow light, Diesel? Did you shine your blu rays at the envelope? Is that what you mean? :)

It's not harmful to your eyes unless it is too bright. The main thing you need to watch out is not getting the laser beam itself into your eyes..

Otherwise, since you got my blu rays indirectly through, you don't have the instructions and the info i usually give my buyers. There is a lot of important info in there.

I would ask you to email me, so that i can at least send you the instructions, and a new laser warning label (take the labels out BEFORE sticking the battery in, everyone!  ;D)

EDIT: Oh, were you talking about the lens cap glowing when the laser is ON with the cap on the lens?
Well, it's not harmful, it's just bright. It can be too bright to look at it directly. But if you illuminate the room with it, it's not harmful.

But i would not recommend using the laser as a flashlight for extended periods of time. It's not meant for that. The reason i use GITD lens caps is so you don't forget to turn it OFF by mistake.

I once had a black lens cap on a blu ray, and i left it on by accident, and put it in my pocket. By the time i took it out, it was ON for like 45 minutes. It got warm but it survived. But obviously i would advise against that.

With a Glow In The Dark lens cap, there is no way you could forget to turn the laser OFF by mistake.. ;)

I agree, I had the IgorT laser in my pocket and bumped the door frame, it turned on and I was soon told of my glowing pocket! ;D ;D ;D

No Sam, wood choice is ininfluent, with this BR you can burn any wood you want..... :D! BTW, take care that darker is the wood and less visible is the burned trace, make some tests to check.... but I don't think you can easily find really dark woods, also oak is good.... :)

I couldn't remember who you were at first. :-[ Then i realized i sent you a 4x diode once.. Glad to hear it's still doing fine.. ;)

As you increase the current, from a certain point on, the ony ones who notice the difference are the meter, but more importantly, the diode. Once you're at a certain power, 30mW more just isn't noticable anymore. Maybe if you held two lasers side by side you would see a slight increase in brightness, but otherwise, it's easy not to notice it. Burning may work faster, but i doubt it was actually twice as fast. Unless your diode was in a kink at the lower current. But the diode notices such a power increase for sure, and can have it's life halved, or worse.

I don't know the power of your diode, but i got almost 140 hours out of a 4x at 165mW. That may not sound much, but it's actually two years of regular use, if not more. I definitelly don't want to make 14 hour lasers tho. In my hands, that's just weeks.

That's why i try to keep the powers within certain reasonable limits, where the diodes at least stand a decent chance. If you want to push it, that's up to you. It your diode.. ;)
