I really think they look amazing. I would buy a whole laser from you if i didnt enjoy making them so much myself!

Thanks!

I did spend a lot of time working on the design, and trying to perfect it. But the point is not in how they look, but in how they work, both for heatsinking, and for the type of build they make possible..

The original heatsink/module worked great, even tho it didn't look this smooth, but it was made to be opened up often, without having to dismantle or unsolder anything - it just unscrewed appart in the middle (AFTER pulling out the round contact PCB!!!).

With this one the PCB has to be unsoldered from the wires, to pull out the AixiZ from the front, and get to the driver. Except with the MM-FD, where the driver is soldered to the round PCB, so it comes out with it, and the head of AixiZ can be left inside the heatsink.

Of course. I wouldn't buy a laser i know how to make myself either. I enjoy making them too..

If i should find a way to start selling heatsinks, i will have to make a tutorial for the build.

The driver from the host has to be removed very carefully, depopulated, and modified in a way, that allows it to stick firmly in place when pressed into that step.

I cut four notches into the edge of the PCB, pre-tin a wire, to make it hard but elastic, and solder short pieces of it it "wrapped" around the edge of the PCB (from the top side, to the bottom side, soldered to the right spots on both sides), just above those notches. The wire has to be in the notch, but stick out just enough, to make the PCB too big to fit. Then, when it is pressed in place, the wire gives way just a little, by bending into the notch. The elasticity of the wires holds the PCB firmly in place, since it is supported from four sides, it can't tilt, and since the wires are soldered to the GND connections on the PCB, they also establish the GND contact for the driver, which comes through the heatsink fom the body pressing against it..

You can probably see this four point wire system in the pictures, that show the PCB side.

It takes some practice to get it right, and the PCB has to be removed undamaged from the host (it is soldered in place), or it can make this part complicated.

But when it is done just right, it can be repeatedly stuck in place, and taken out, without the four wires ever getting used up. It holds very firmly, but not that firm, that they would get damaged.

Altho, the GND contact for the driver could be taken from the diode directly, and the PCB would only give the positive contact.... Then it could just be stuck into the hole. It stays in by itself, just not very firmly. And the folded wires could press it back out...

I would also have to make pictures of how to mount the FlexDrive to the round PCB.

You would probably be interested in the MM-FD version, right?

Yes, i could... My black hosts and MM-FD heatsinks are all spoken for for open can builds, but i can order more black hosts, and the diode would do just as good in a v1 heatsink/module...

When i figure out how many black hosts i have available, i will let you know. I hope you are in no rush. I would prefer to keep the silver/gray hosts for the Blu Rays, and use black hosts for reds. The black one looks just as nice, but it suits a red better, in my oppinion. But they do make a great couple...
