Default Re: FS: >110mW Blu-Rays - available

WL sells their 60mW for $1999! You can get better quality from CNI at $600 or so, but again 60mW.

With new diodes, the power will be even higher. Hopefully, we can safelly reach 200mW after the glass lens, using the newly available 4x/6x diode.

I have thought of selling them on e-bay, but i'm mostly selling these to fund the custom lens project, and the forum keeps me occupied enough by itself.

I wish I could say that I have the privilege of owning an Igor laser, but even I can tell, just from pictures, that these are awesome build quality and Igor is a stand-up guy who stands behind his work. If you want quality, you found it.

I wanted to show how tiny the v2 heatsink/module looks in my hands. I am still surprised at this myself, every time i hold it. I am used to seeing the v1 all the time, but this one is smooth and completelly straight, with no threads on the outside, so it looks smaller, while they are actually the same size.

Anyway, another picture, of two, side by side. The one on the left is Max-Mass/FlexDrive version for <300mW open can reds. The one on the right is a "Max-Mass" version for my blu ray driver. But the differences are on the inside.

And a view of the insides. These are empty heatsinks, before assembly. When the heatsink/module is assembled and closed off by the contact board, the laser is pretty much finished.

The original v1 all-in-one heatsink module works very good - it can even support an open can red at 430mA with a practically unlimited duty cycle. But it takes very long to assemble it from several custom made parts.

These were an attempt to get the same performance out of a single piece heatsink, while keeping them just as self contained as the original they were based on.. Basically, they are a cross between the first all-in-one heatsink/module and the more traditional heatsink approach, but still with everything safelly hidden away inside, for protection.

In this picture, you can see the internal difference between the MM-FD (for open cans) and MM-MD (for Blu Rays) version of the heatsink/module.

The MM-FD has an enlarged room in the bottom, to hold a rounded off FlexDrive horizontally above the round contact board. Because the walls of the module are thinner there, the middle is made more massive, by barelly leaving enough room for two wires between the diode and the driver.

The MM-MD version has my constant current boost driver soldered on the diode directly. With this one a shortened botom of the AixiZ module is left inside for a bit more mass and better thermal transfer between the AixiZ and the heatsink/module.

Both were designed to occupy as much room as possible with aluminum mass, and they worked out great. They keep the temperature just as stable as the v1, but they make my work a lot easier..

If you shine both at the same spot, they will make an interesting color. But i don't know what that color is called in english. To be honest, i don't even know, what it's called in my language.. :

It looks something like this.

Do you think you would ever sell the heatsinks for the lasers you make, or will you just stick to full builds?

The old heatsink/modules were not the traditional heatsinks everyone is used too, and they took me way too long to put together, for it to be worth it in any way..

The new heatsinks cost ME more than you would want to pay for them and i don't even have enough to make myself a laser yet. I will even have to take the test PHR in the pictures back out in a few days. Unless i can get them manufactured in volume at a much lower price, i just don't see how it would make any sense to sell them.

If i can get them made for less, i guess i could sell them tho.
