Re: FS: >110mW Blu-Rays - available

Hey IgorT, I gotta say, I LOVE YOU! You know why and I have the coolest collection of lasers any man could want. And they all cost me next to nothing. How can you be so good?

the pic was done with polyurethane that drooled out of one of my injection molding machines I work with. It looks like a piece of cotton candy and scatters the laser light. bluray, igor red, green

I've said it before, but IMHO it bears repeating, the quality of build is the very finest, and the host is the most compact of any that are even near as well built. Choosing these is a no-brainer, and I am on the edge of my seat waiting for my next IgorT lasers!

Yea, they are great! I'm waiting for mine as I sent it back to Igor for "upgrading" it, with the new special lens and higher current setting. Gonna be so nice to have an even more powerful blu-ray. :D

You really must love them scopeguy, you have two and are getting three more!

Hey guys, nice forum - And my compliments to Igor.
Don't have the time right now to read through the thread, might I inquire about availability/pricing/options ?

Wow, there was a lot of activity while i was gone. But i think you figured out how to write me an email in the meanwhile, right?

If someone wants a response quick, please write me an email. I can't come on the forum when i'm working, cos then i don't get anything done.. ;D
But i check my emails all the time.

In any case, the PHR laser is $215, EU shipping is $6, worldwide shipping is $9. A laser with the new 4x/6x diode costs a bit more cos the diode costs more, but it can do more power. How much exactly still needs to be determined with some hard testing, which i hope to start any day now.

Can't wait to see what the results of the tests will be  ;D ;D ;D!!!!! In any case with these new 6x diodes think I'm gonna have to invest in a pair of UV sunglasses

Re: FS: >110mW Blu-Rays - available

Sunglasses works very well for 405nm as they have an UV filter, and 405nm is very close to UV.

At least for me, the brightness of my IgorT BR was greatly reduced with sunglasses. So no need to use the cash of laser glasses here... ;)

Yeah, I have a couple of pair of deep yellow shooting glasses, they say UV blocking, and on my meter a 119 mW blu-ray went down to ~4 mw, so decent protection there.

Re: FS: >110mW Blu-Rays - available

I redesigned my "all-in-one" heatsink/module, for the new 4x/6x diodes..

This is the v2. It is 27mm (1.08 inches) long, and 17.7mm (0.7 inches) in diameter.

The basic idea is the same as with the original module - to have a completelly self contained and fully enclosed module, which is independant from the host. The v1 had threads, that allowed it to screw into the head directly, the new one just slides into the head, and is held in place by the body screwed in after it.

The new heatsink/module is designed in a way, that fills out as much room as possible with aluminum mass, leaving just enough room for the driver inside. It gets closed off by the round battery contact PCB, so that all the sensitive parts are safelly hidden away inside.

I made a separate, different design for the open can reds with a FlexDrive, where the driver is rounded off and mounted to the round contact PCB. There is room in the bottom for the driver, but in the middle, the heatsink gets very tight, so as to retain as much aluminum mass as possible.

Some pictures. This is the Blu Ray version, altho from the outside, both look the same.

Re: FS: >110mW Blu-Rays - available

Just like before, the v2 heatsink/module is not just a heatsink, it is a complete laser by itself. All it needs is power. The host is just a pretty battery holder and a secondary heatsink.

The completelly self contained design eliminates the risk of wires twisting and breaking, when unscrewing the head. And if it ever needs a modification or a diode replacemnt, only the tiny module has to be shipped back. In fact, since it's so modular, it can simply be switched for another one.

It just drops into the head, the body gets screwed in after it tight, firmly holding it in place and establishing the electrical and thermal contacts.

In the picture on the right, i attached a battery with two alligator clips. ;)

This one is housing my personal PHR at 160mA/170mW. Inside the host, it keeps it as cool as the v1 did - at 160mA it takes an hour for it to reach body temperature! It actually warms up faster if you hold it turned off in your hand.

that's pretty good, don't wicked lasers sell theirs for like $1000? :S

Also, have you ever thought about selling them on ebay or something?
