Re: FS: >110mW Blu-Rays - available

Yours really took surprisingly long. I expected, the package would at least have been opened and inspected. :-?
But others took less time than that.

Whitey: Your tracking says it arrived at the NY customs on the 13th.. I think it's on the way to you tho, as there are no updates on USPS, untill the evening after it arrives. I think it will arrive any day now.

IgorT do you have any of your lasers left? As i am interested in purchasing a grey one from you if possible?

Also do you have any 5/10 or maybe 20mW ones? Im trying to get a group buy in with my friends, i dont really trust them with a high powered one  Cheers

Re: FS: >110mW Blu-Rays - available

I will have more "lasers left" by the end of this week. I do not know how many or for how long tho, because half are already ordered.

For 5 or 10mW, one would normally use a PS3 diode, which are weaker, but they actually cost more at this point. And not all can produce 20mW, and they like dying very much.

This laser could be set to 20mW, but that would almost seem like a waste of a good diode. And it would not be any cheaper - it would be just as hard to make. There are some other, simpler options, that could work tho...

In any case, write me an email, and maybe we can figure something out. You can find my address, if you click on my profile.

I'm easier to reach there, when i'm working.

EDIT:I just checked now and the other battery from the pair comes out nicely from the tailcap, the other one that is a anomaly :p

I just tested some more batteries, and i noticed, there was one among the 12, that actually didn't want to go into the Rominsen host!
The flat wire connecting the two poles of the battery was sticking out a little at the bottom, where the PCB is - it made a bulge under the wrapping.

So i'm guessing your tight battery must be similar to this one. Look for a bulge under the wrapping at the PCB end. I put the battery into the tube, any tilted it at an angle so that this bulge was pressed in by the wall and flattened a little. It still sticks out, but at least it fits now, and falls out by itself. You should try it, if you see this bulge.

But a battery like that should never make it through manufacturers QC... ::)

They DO like dying very much. Of 5 diodes from PS3 sleds, I hooked them up to a driver providing 5v and 40mA, and 3 of them burned out instantly, the other 2 worked at about 15mw, one burned out in about 2 weeks, and the other is still functional. But when I saw this laser I knew I had to order one immediately, the 15mW one I have, as amazingly cool as it is, just doesnt compare to a high power laser like this! Can't wait to get my hands on one of these! :)

Hehe. Well, you'll get it very soon, and then you'll like it even more. ;)

I had similar bad luck with PS3 diodes.. First i ordered two in a GB, and the first one was bad from the start, the second one died from my error. Then i ordered three more, but the first PHRs actually arrived first!

And these are very tough!

Great!

Oh, and you can remove that sticker i put on.. It was just for the customs..

If you want the correct sticker, let me know. ;)

I got the custom warning labels from andy_con, so if anyone wants them, i can put them in envelopes and send.

Re: FS: >110mW Blu-Rays - available

The reason i'm asking is because some people might not want a sticker on their pretty laser.. ;)
I still haven't decided, if i do.

But i will be including them from now on..
