Haha, yeah.. I know how that feels. It's worse, when the customs want your blood for every smallest thing you try to import..

Well, i hope they are processed by now.. USPS isn't showing any updates untill after something happens.

You got it? OMG, that's GREAT!!!

Did you test it?

I just hope the others were released too.. I was getting worried..

Since you're in NY, it would make sense you'd be the first to get it. I'll check your tracking now. If it's not updated, it could mean others are on the way inside US too, and it's just not getting updated....

Anyway, i hope you enjoy it VERY MUCH!

It's late here, so i won't see the pictures till tomorrow..
You need to test it outside at night!

And then you need to try burning some things.. Not just matches.. Burn a circle into a white piece of paper, until it falls off!
Use sunglasses for focusing. They block 405nm because of the UV filter.

But most importantly, have LOTS of fun!

P.S. Don't point it at yourself, when focused into a tiny spot.. Even with a parallel beam, it's hot enough to sting!

This thing is amazing at night! I'll post pics tomorrow night! As far as burning goes, once focused right, it lights matches pretty much instantly. It also eats right through white paper. hehe

Cool, huh? *

Anyway, USPS hasn't updated your tracking. It's still showing it at the customs..
So i guess i was worried for no reason. The others must also be somewhere between NY and the final destination.

The driver i use in the laser has nothing to do with the driver some people have asked me to make for them, if that's what you're asking.

In the lasers i use a miniaturized version of a high efficiency (>84%) constant current boost driver. I had one, that fit an AixiZ module, but an AixiZ module doesn't fit my new host. So i had to redesign the driver to make it half the size, and it's now 13x9mm. *It's pretty much the hardest part of the laser to make, because the regulator package has no legs, and everything is so small, that i can hardly see it.

After some people asked me to make them drivers, i posted that anyone can ask for one in the first post. But that is a linear driver, like a 317 or similar.

I can not possibly give away my drivers. I couldn't even sell them, as it would not be worth it - they take too much time to make. Also, they were not designed to be user friendly. And i don't have time to make detailed instructions.. It would make much more sense to get a LavaDrive in this case, as it operates in the same way. If i had room for it, i would also use the LavaDrive, because i'm wasting too much time on my drivers.

If i misunderstood your question, write me a PM or an email...

Looks like the US packages are starting to arrive. Strange enough, the last one came first.. The first one came second.. The rest should follow any day now. I hope most of them arrive today.

Maybe the customs really were looking for terrorist items.. ;D Sure took them long enough..

And aren't the LM317 drivers huge in relation to how small yours are?

Anyways, mine still hasn't come, but I'll be checking the mail everyday now! I am all the way down in Texas, though, so it might take a little time.

I can't wait to see the beam on this laser! It's so humid where I live, the beam should be quite visible.

Well, yeah, the LM317 IC itself is larger than my entire driver.. Never even thought of it this way..
But you can make a 317 fit an AixiZ module.. However then you need two Li-Ions for a red or three for a blu ray.

I always wanted to make my lasers small. So i really like how these came out.

Hope everyone gets to enjoy them soon!

Default Re: FS: >90mW Blu-Rays, two models: OPEN

My package came in today near Noon! I am so jazzed to have the IgorT lasers! I have 2 units one at 119 mW and the other is @ 113 mW per my Kenom Thermal LPM. These are so well made and so sharp looking, they are sure worth waiting for! I burned bright white paper easily and any plastic will smoke right away. These units are so well made that I feel very lucky to have a guy with IgorT's talent be willing to work so diligently to make so fine a build! I would compare it with custom built high technology items that we usually could hardly even afford. I really can't see a good reason to have a pen type at these output powers. If a next generation of diodes comes out, I would suggest to any builders that safety devices would be a really good idea. These units are just the coolest thing ever! I will try to hold off more playing with them and write a complete review soon! The focus is super easy to adjust and the dot is still very bright even with my eye protection on. The lovely purple beam was easy to see in my darkest inside bathroom although done at Noon with some light coming in from under the door. Watch for my review! WOOOT!

So glad, that you finally got them man! What the hell were they doing at the customs for two weeks, if the package wasn't even opened?!?
And i'm even more glad, that you like them!

But... *The powers! *

Looks like my meter really is showing a few percent too little.. I had this suspicion for a while now..
I need to gather more such comparative measurements, to calculate the correct percentage, but it would seem everyone can add 7% on top of what i wrote on the boxes! *

Looks like my strict diode selection paid off! Every single laser is actually *~110mW! It also means, that the weaker diodes i got left with are not that weak after all. They would still make nice 100mW lasers!

Anyway, now that they finally got to you, i hope you have a LOT of fun with them!

P.S. Those gems of yours should really glow now!

Hmm, since most of my "weaker" diodes are actually still ~100mW (and still have higher power selections inside), i think it's time to offer those at a slightly lower price. Don't really have to ruin all of them in my high current durability tests.. *

So if anyone is interested, drop me a PM..

Otherwise, i just finished preparing the third batch of what turned out to be 110mW lasers, and two are still available for immediate shipping. Maybe three. And they can be set higher if required.

Most of the money is being poured into the custom lens project, so if you want to support it, as well as get an awesome looking high quality laser, here's your chance..

Mine are set to 100mW right? You mentioned on an e-mail that it was giving 88mW at 109mA and said you would say what was the final power at 125mA,but I didn't an e-mail about that.I'm starting to think about putting the current higher, what would be the necessary current to have 120mW?

Well, i test all my diodes before putting them into the all-in-one modules, as i can't get them out again, unless dead.
So i modified a module so that the diode can be put in and taken out after the test.. And i test all diodes at 109mA for the selection, only select diodes in a certain range for these lasers, and then set them to 125mA once i put them into the modules.

Your diode tested at 88mW at that test.. But with the new info, it was actually 94mW!

So, your power is written on the inner flap of the box it comes in.. I also have them all written down, and can look it up. But, since my meter is showing too little, your power (and everyone elses) is actually 7% higher, than what i wrote on your box..

I'll look for the info and send you an email when i find it, with the correct power.. It is around 110mW.

So because of this, 120mW is not really an option with the diodes i used and the current settings inside. You would get like 130mW if you set it to 143mA. Had i used weaker diodes for all your lasers of if my meter was not showing too little, then you would get 120mW, at this higher current.

The other higher current option inside is not yet recommended for use! Besides, i would advise against messing with it just yet.. I think 110mW is plenty, and the difference to what you want would not be noticable, so it doesn't matter much if you leave it as it is for now, and get used to it.. Later you can switch it higher, and get a noticable difference! Brtaman set his to 143mA, and says the difference is larger than expected!

Use it as it is for a while. After i do more durability tests, you can then set it higher.. All it requires is a tiny drop of solder. I will prepare instructions for that.

Also, please do not attempt to open the module without special instructions! If done in the right order, it's perfectly safe, but if you just try to unscrew it in half, without doing an important step FIRST, you would rip the insides appart (when opening the module the battery contact board must not turn!)!

I will send you pictures of what the all-in-one lazor module looks like, and how it comes appart correctly. Later i will also prepare instructions on how to set the power higher.

But now, i need to sleep.

P.S. About the undisguising. One person misunderstood where the notches are.. They are not in the battery contact board! Don't poke that! The notches are in the alluminum of the module itself, and they are large enough to be grabbed with any tweezers, for loosening and tightening.. Just follow the instructions when you get it. Make sure you know what you're doing.. Due to the design of the module, where everything is inside it, and tere are no wires going anywhere, it's actually easy and not dangerous as long as you leave the module in one piece, but still, better to be safe than sorry..
