Ok, it's morning, and i'm going to sleep, cos i just finished and shipped off the latest work..

If anyone is waiting for an email reply, i was forced to reduce my online activities to almost none (i only checked the 8x murder thread once a day), because last week a few days went by, where i did nothing but replying to emails, PMs, and a few posts! I wanted to finish the work i had, so i had no other choice, but to go offline till it's done...


The reason i'm writing this is that i've seen one email, where someone was worrying why i did not reply to the 6x Batch #5 Order Summary..

Everything is fine, if you sent me a summary, you are in Batch #5, and since i just finished the important work that was holding me back, i can now do the fifth 6x batch so much sooner! :yh:

Same goes for the 8x batch... And just so i don't have to answer the same question 10 times - you'll get the PP Request, when i'm done with your batch. The order summary is "order confirmation", don't worry about the rest...


In any case, i'll answer all pending emails by the evening...

I just hope i didn't get as many per day as last week.. :undecided:

Ok, now that the 8x Murder Experiment diodes are all tested and the torture experiment starts - since it will be running automatically, i will finally have time to finish the last 6x batch!

I'll do my best to complete 6x Batch #5 this week! But i might need the weekend as a buffer...

When i'm ready to ship i'll send everyone who wrote an Order Summary a PP Request....

I have PMs under control at the moment, while the emails will take me a while to sort out, since too many piled up when i went offline in order to finish some work (i was spending all days long doing nothing but answering questions, and i couldn't do much work like that :undecided.

I will try to answer everyone ASAP, but i still also have to work if i want to finish the batch (not to mention other work). So if you want a quick reply, for now PMs are preferred, and you'll get an answer within 24h.

Oh, one last thing... Jay mounted the "Medium" Custom lens in a prototype metal lens nut, and reported very good results!
I should have it back for final testing around the end of this week, but i can already say it's looking GOOD! :yh:

excuse me igorT.... but i have a simple question... how many mm is the aperture beam diameter of your lasers??
and...at best divergence.. what mrad can they reach?i think 0.5 mrad or less. but to burn at near object... the laser should be focus adjusted everytime....i think! it is not like a green laser that more near is the laser...more burns...without focus better. with this open diode focused by lense... diameter chould be too much large to burn something.....(without focus it) at infinite divergence.

Hi realista, I was giving a quick look on the various Forum threads, when I have seen your question. So I suddenly took a small tripod (one of those sold by DX) and I fixed the IgorT PHR (equipped with a 405-G-1) at a distance of 4 inches from a sheet of white paper, as per the following pict:



take care that the laser was focused at about 30 m that is, just to see the best dot at this distance. I measured the dot on the paper using the safety glasses: the PHR (150mW) supplies a brilliant dot 5 mm long and 1.2 mm wide (an elongated and stretched oval). After 1 minute of continuous power, no sign on the paper.

Then I replaced the PHR with the IgorT 8x BR (also this equipped with the 405-G-1), and focused in the same way: the 8x (BDR-203, 412mW) supplies a different dot, 4mm long and 2 mm wide. After 14 sec. of continuous power the paper started burning with red boundaries, leaving the hole you can see on the corner of the paper sheet.

Conclusion: more power you have, more burning power you get (elementary, Watson), also if the laser is focused as far as you can....; also the regular shape of the dot has its own influence, so IMHO with a good lens the 8x has a better burning dot shape than the PHR...

I'm shipping the paid part of 6x Batch #5 now (the ones that required ordering special hosts and heatsinks), and i'm ready to send out the PP Requests for the rest as well..


I didn't want to send PP requests sooner, because i knew the 8x Murder Experiment could delay things quite a bit since it was A LOT of work! And it did...


But it's running all by itself since Tuesday - well, i still have to check it twice a day, but the hardest part is over (anyone interested, you can see the start and initial results HERE, HERE and HERE), and i've been working hard to get Batch #5 ready simultaneously..


I'll be working till post office closing time tonight, and after that i can send out the requests, and sort out the emails and PMs that piled up while i was working day and night..
