Hi Joe, nice to hear from you! :yh: Well, you know, for me (this is my personal opinion) the Romisen host is the top, and Igor has in his pocket a lot of improvements: the new heatsink V3, the medium lens, a dedicated driver without pot (no unwanted setting changes!), and his diode test bench! So my target is to have an 8x I can work with it (that is, without short duty cycle)... So, if I'll be able to have a 270 - 300mW as pure Power Output (that is without lens) I'll be happy of it, because I know I'm not risking a short life.... but the last word about the P.O. is in Igor hands and experience....

Then the right lens: he is shipping me also his medium lens, as I already have a closed rear acrylic Aixiz, an open rear one, the Jay 405-G-1 and the new LarryDFW brass "no spring" assy is on my way; so I'll try to build up a review relevant to the total P.O. but also about the beam shape, and the relevant splatter... hoping my cameras will be able to "see" any minimum difference...

BTW, I hope to be able to get a BR total output of about 350 - 370mW, and if you have seen the Pseudolobster "8x BR - Burning white electrical tape" video in the "Multimedia" section.....wow!

Keep us posted on how you make out on this, it does sound very exciting. Igor makes some of the finest Lasers out there.

Otherwise i just went into a deal with him a week ago, where he would pay the other half of the bill AFTER receiving the package, and i had absolutelly no seller protection in this matter - i could not possibly do a PP dispute if he didn't pay me the other half. But Glenn vouched for him so i felt confident enough.

And i just came back from the weekend, and saw that the other half of the invoice is paid. Don't even know if the package arrived yet or not. If it did it would almost be a miracle (unless smaller/flatter packages pass customs that much faster :thinking...
In any case, fact is that he held up to his part of the agreement and paid the other half.

So in my oppinion, he can be trusted.




As for competition, I HAVE ABSOLUTELLY NO PROBLEM with competition. As long as it is honest. And by that i mean, if they come up with their own ideas instead of copying others.

Copying i do have a small problem with. Especially when i'm tricked into revealing my designs and then see them sold a week later, or when i hear stories of people asking machinists for "Heatsinks like Igor's, how much for 20?".... But what can i do?


But honest competition, i have no problem with, in fact i encourage it.

For example, before GGWs became available on the forum, i made a quick mini-"GB" for GGW 6x's for a small number of people (i was forced by the supplier to do it within two days, so a normal GB would not work). A couple of these people were my competition. In fact my largest competition.

On top of that the deal was such, that they would get their share of diodes a week sooner, than i would get mine. They could sell 6x builds much sooner than me, because i still had to make all the drivers...


If i wanted to, i could have kept the diodes a secret, and be exclusive for a while. But i didn't. So i hope it is clear, that i have no problem with honest competition.



Buyers have their own reasons for which seller they choose. My buyers know why they buy from me, and why they are willing to pay the price.




P.S. TechJunkie: I will email you a plot of the diode you sent me, for you to select a current, ok?

Actually the 265mW BR is my personal laser (an experimental SUPER-freak 6x diode with my medium custom glass lens), which he is getting just so he has something to play with while waiting on the 8x.


Franco helped me out in ways i can not even describe, and will take me a while to fully repay, so i'm trying to pamper him in the meanwhile... :angel:


Also, since he has several different glass lenses (including my v1 custom lens - aka The Disaster Lens - just for experimentation), i would like him to review my medium custom lens before the test-buy, in order to give people an idea of what to expect from it, to make it easier for them to decide..

After he returns it to me, i will send it for reviewing to Traveller (they both live close to me and both have different lenses to compare). After that i'll start the test buy, with the lenses mounted in metal lens nuts with Jayrob's help! :bowdown:


Then everyone can get the medium custom lens, if they want it... :yh:




Franco: Is it true, that Italian post is weird in August? The guy at the post office was looking at me funny, when i asked how long your package would take. Said it's impossible to say, because everyone is lazy in Italy in August.. :crackup:

I just wish i could have shipped it sooner, but i needed it for diode pre-testing (for wavelength comparisons - as a VERY high wavelength reference)..Post some pics once you get it. You should measure between 262-265mW depending on how hot a day it is. Also, i will need to know if your PHR host is like the one you're getting now or a different shade, so that i can put your 8x in the opposite. I think you should have two different ones.

Anyways, glad you got the payment. i sent it as SOON as i pulled in the driveway from my NY trip. i went right over and checked the mail , wasnt there , had to drive to the post office to get it, and low and behold! there she was... sittin pretty as could be!

It arrived on the 8th BTW, Did this shipment make it to me extra fast or something?? you said it would be a miracle if it had, lol. well it did!

Yes, i said i'd rather not have my question answered here.

I did post my own personal experience with Darkarmyofone. But that wasn't an invitation for more arguing, so.

Let's all just calm down please...

I made a number of people (6 or so) very worried, since they had to wait for their lasers due to some VERY serious business problems my accountant caused me at the worst possible time. Their worries and complaints were completelly justified tho, as i was gone much longer than i expected to be, but i had no choice, but to fix the problem and i was running out of time fast (in the end i had two weeks left to file the yearly tax-report, and no accountant or paperwork!)...

I was very lucky, that one of my buyers literally gave me step by step instructions for what to do and what not to do in a situation like that!



What played against me, when it came to the lasers during that time was preciselly the fact that i make my own drivers and pre-test all the diodes on my Diode Analyzer, before deciding which of them to use in my lasers - the very reasons those buyers wanted my lasers were partially the cause of the lasers being delayed.

Both making the drivers and pre-testing diodes is VERY HARD work, and takes a LOT of time, even when everything is going smoothly.... I managed to fulfill most of the orders while trying to resolve the problem on the side, but then i ran out of time and a few had to wait.


But while the affected buyers got super-freak GGW diodes in their BluRays afterwards (i gave away all the best diodes i had at that time), and are now also getting Bonus-Reds on top, in order to make up for their waiting and worrying, i still feel bad for making them wait too long....


I do hope that the bonus lasers and other extras or presents make up for their worries tho.
I just want to make sure that everyone is happy in the end - as happy as everyone was before things ever went wrong....



Some people might be worried about ordering from me because of that problematic time, even tho i am now working at normal speeds again, with the problem sorted out long ago, and the affected people being compensated big time (i hope - if someone disagrees, i'd like to know about it so that i can fix it!)...

I just hope that those, who were the most worried before will feel better, once they get their bonus laser packages too, and that they post back, to let me know if they are happy with everything they got in the end...



It might also help make people understand, that i would never let anyone down, and that IF something should ever go wrong, i would fix it... However there won't be any problems in the future. The only "problem" i have now is a LOT of work all the time, to make up for the time i lost (and to make all the bonus lasers and fulfill various free favors i promissed over a longer period of time before things went wrong)...



Which reminds me, the rest of the Bonus-Batch is shipping this week!

I'll use regular Priority in the hopes of making them arrive to their destinations faster in this case...



Anyway, at this time i even have some time to read the forum a little again, and post a bit, like in the good old times. Things are rapidly returning to normal, and i don't mind the extra work i have to do for that! :yh:


If someone should still be worried, i can ship to US through a "middle-man", and the buyer would then only pay after the package was already there. It's an option, if it makes someone feel better....

Scopeguy20 is a very helpful and reliable friend, who helped me out MANY times, and would do this too, if needed... I hope it won't be needed, but IF someone is not sure, better do it this way, than worry for no reason...






Otherwise, Darkarmyofone, i thought we agreed i'd give you double the LCC reds per 4x diode..... Or did i put in more than that? I don't recall, but it's quite possible i included extras, just in case you might need them..


Oh and yes. For a US bound package, yours was delivered almost in record time! I had perhaps three out of 100+ ever arrive this fast to a US destination... I think it's because yours was a small flat envelope, that it passed customs this much faster...


The reason for the packages mostly taking longer is that i use Registered Priority shipping. The Registered part gives you a tracking number and me proof of shipping, but in the US it slows things down, from what Electron told me... He can probably explain it better than me...

The Priority part is supposed to make it faster, but it's the part AFTER they get to US that they are slow... But at least they never get lost this way!


I have to use it, as it is the only way to protect the package from getting lost by the post office, and it has to be Registered, since i guarantee delivery.

If a package should ever get lost or dissapear for ANY reason whatsoever, the buyer would have the right to another laser with the same quality diode or to a refund....


Registered Priority is the only reasonably priced shipping option i have here, that gives both the buyer and myself good protection and some online tracking....
