Thanks again!

:paypal:

and in reading on the c3 my first one was a real bugger because I didnt use a round driver. But the finnished product turned out prety good. I dont remember where I got that heatsink maybe Moh but it did have a setscrew on it but I remember it stuck out a tiny bit after the module was in and I had to file the screw head down a bit or it would catch on the threads Moh used hex screwes so it didnt matter much. Cant wait to try yours out I have a pl450b on the way for the c3.

Depends heavily on your definition of 'cool' I guess; personally I'm a little tired of looking at black "C6-like" hosts but here's another DIY (gutted) one from DX for 12$

I also have a WF-502B on the way since it was really cheap ($6 on clearance right now), but I'm not 100% what it's form factor is, and I'm still waiting on Eud for the go-word on 'sinking it as its specs apparently have a wide manufacturing tolerance...

Right now I'm looking for another small elegant host (1xAA or smaller), with a known HS & driving solution (which isn't a flexdrive) for a low-power build ;)

Yeah im getting sick of that c6 look too. Is there a thread with a bunch of 18650 hosts?

m2 I have a bunch of c6's here now with sinks which I dont know if I will use or not.. I'm getting PO'd at their tail clickies too half the time they dont seem to work.. I really like the c3/sh-035 14500/AA build it's small it's stainless great for a low power build.. There is also the SH-034 1x 16340. And what was that little host T-waren had? I liked that one 1x 10400? or something like that.. As far as the 18650's go the sh-032 is probably my favorite.. but I also like the 501-B's and the c2's the A10-b is nice too. I want to check out the MXDL site as well because they seem to have some nice hosts that are really well built..

The sh-032 is quite an easy build with a round driver. it's prety much pull the pil and reflector out pull out the old led driver and led put your driver in with heatsinking to the pill if needed install the module in heatsink wire it up and screw the pill back in. If you are getting a heatsink made I can give you the new OD for the heatsinks they changed sometime in February the new hosts need a heatsink ~.01mm smaller to fit in. I have an older model and 3 newer models as well as a sh-034 which uses the same heatsink. I think but not sure that they will fit a sh-036 too.

Alright. Why do I need a round driver? I am going to use a AnthoT rectangle driver. At 500mA it doesnt need heatsinking. Is there a US seller for this host? I do not want to wait for dx shipping :(

Well it's just a bit easier with a round driver because it just pops into the pill where the old one came out. With a rectangular one you will need something small enough to fit into the pill or into the heatsink that gives you the room you need. I then you would have a chouce of puting in a batery contact blank or drilling through the existing driver for your batery contacts.. You would also probably need to drill out the pill so that a driver would fit.. Using a round driver just makes it really simple because there is not that much room. Maybe you could have one made that has the pill threads on the back elininating the pill all together that would be nice.

With all due respect to Moh, you may also want to check out CajunLasers (linked in my siggy), Clif (owner) also has Guidesman hosts and heatsink I make, and he's widely known for his time-travelling speed shipping within US.

PM'd for saik heatsink :D
Replied.

Oh I was looking at CajunLasers and I thought it was Moh's website lol
Can you guys tell me a good driver to use for a c6 host to power 500mA stable enough for a S06J 12x?

Linear drivers are the most stable hands down...

Don't they have heat issues? AnthoT I want one of your boost drivers, I just dont want to have to wait a month for DTR or Cajunlasers to stock a 500mA one :(

Well 450mA is a much safer current, 500mA is the max, you will get a longer life at 450mA & 500mA will possibly give you ~50mw more & you are running it at the limit.

Your choice in the end :)
