I agree... DrLava used to be a great supplier with good
customer service.... but in the last 6-12 months his customer
service has been lacking quit a bit...
Like I said earlier.... not only on LPF...

Maybe he has had personal problems that changed his priorities...

Loyal customers should still be notified of any business changes..
It's just the right thing to do... IMO

Maybe he'll see this Thread and let us know his business plans...

$20 says if he sees this thread he doesn't say a word. Why would he? After all it's not like he's making money off of us.

Oh wait...

As far as I'm concerned he and that whole little Ohio crowd of his can play in traffic.

Honestly I kinda feel bad for Dr Lava. I really believe he is someone who holds this hobby close to his heart. He was someone we looked up to, or at least held respect for. Now everybody's turned against him. Ready to burn him at the steak.

Do we all have the right to be pissed at him, ''HELL YES'' we did, and still do.
We all saw it coming with his product being so important to our builds. like the DUNE novel.
''He who controls the spice, controls the universe''

For those who have been here long enough, we all know that his reliability has been pretty hit and miss over the years. How many times has he waited till he has no stock on hand, before he reorders?
Every time a new diode came out 6x 8X 12X 445 he would run out and we would all be hanging.
Thats why people who knew better would always stock up.

Now the most fuc*'D up part was that he totally dropped the ball the last few months.
He completely vanished and decided to brush everyone off. Told everybody new drivers were coming in, and would be shipping out soon.
Everybody sending payments to him with the dreaded google checkout.
Only to be stiffed with no product, and no response as to why.

Then he has the nerve to come back to a semi active status. Tells us all that he's sorry, that he got sidetracked with his education. Then acts all shocked that so many of us are pissed.

But now things are really fu*ked up. We're pissed and feel betrayed, and he feels the same. I know he realizes that he let us down.
I believe he has apologized, probably a little to late for that, but at least he did.

I guess what I'm getting at, is that the way we all feel. The way we see how it all went down. May not be how Dr lava intended it to.

Honestly I don't think any of it was intentionally out of disrespect for us, or the hobby. I don't think he sat around thinking to himself ''fu*k'em they can all wait''.
Maybe when he was 2 months and hundreds of PM's behind, he thought he was only a week or so behind???

He just made some very poor decisions with a very valuable product. He might be able to save lives someday. Just very lacking in a business sense.

He has come to terms that he cant handle it on his own. From my understanding he will be letting others be distributors of his product. Thats a step in the right direction.

As far as alternatives go, we do have more choices. Especially for 445's. Most of us knew that some of the stock flashlight drivers would work in a pinch. Now most of us would not normally take the chance with a $50 diode. However it was not untill Dr lava's crappy business sense forced us to do just that.
Well some of the DX drivers actually work very well with the 445's. The flex drive sure as hell don't have no SOS strobe function, or high and low settings:)

My point is it just kinda sucks it all ended this way. Lava really does know's his shit. He had some pretty interesting stuff going on about 445 optical corrections. His flexdrive v2's are the bomb

Really? That sucks then. I don't understand why he would not go for a deal like that. modwerx could help get those drivers in the hands of many users.

I haven't had any problems with Dr. Lava, though I'm waiting on a copy of LSX I ordered a week ago. He's gone out of his way to help me when asked, even if he was forgetful (and making up for it later).

I think the main problem is that DrLava is a one-man operation and he's juggling too many balls at once. He should remove products from his site if he's not going to sell them anymore, or can't deliver them in a timely manner. Otherwise, he's giving an illusion that something can be purchased and received in a timely manner, like having a real time "stock" quantity as opposed to just leaving "in stock" up perpetually (like DealExtreme might do). I remember trying to order a correction amp kit, but DrLava ultimately had to cancel the order because he doesn't sell the kit anymore. Unfortunately, the purchase page is still and giving the false illusion that one can buy the kit.

When you offer and sell stuff to the general public and
accept their money... you are in business.

Depending on customer satisfaction... it is either a good
business and will continue or a lousy business and it will
die....
Only the owner of that business can decide what type of
business he wants....

I'm still with Matt on mass replicating these and selling them here for dirt cheap.

Nothing is stopping you from designing, fabricating, and selling tiny boost-buck drivers for "dirt cheap." Though if it were that easy it does beg the question why nobody has really done it.

On another note, DrLava has shipped my LSX.

I ordered my LSX software 2 days ago... It is already supposed to be delivered tomorrow..

Hmm....maybe he quickly ships out whatever his current project is. I'm still waiting on pm's to be answered about drivers from months ago.

Ironically enough they both arrived the very same day. LOL. Thanks a bunch for that Chip. You are a good man. I'd give you more rep but they won't let me.

I must agree.... the price is "dirt cheap" for that Driver.... You need
to factor in much more than just the parts....
I suppose if you've never been in business it is a little harder to see.

I think a large problem is because of the don't step on anyone's
toes
mentality we have come to be accustomed to on the Forum...
at least to myself..
But since the last recent Drama and bannings... it seems that
that mentality seems to be dropping by the wayside on the Forum...

We still have not heard a single word from drlava...
That I find very strange indeed...:undecided:

Hi guys!
The defense is over, LSX laser show software is excellent and now rolling, the drivers are back in stock, the distributors (including ndrew who posted here) are doing a good job of customer service (Thanks to all of you for that) , and I'm crawling out from under a rock and getting to answer PMs again.

thank you for your support, and, yes, finishing with everything did take priority over getting new batches made for a little while, and then the batches took time to BE made, but we're back now.

edit:
Wow Jerry, that's quite a signature you have going there.. two banners!?
