Thank you CB this alone shows his true nature and for the life of me I can't figure how he got to keep all his rep points after tearing up a members laser with a pair of plyers and a hammer :yabbmad: when he was forced to make restitution he balked at that and Dave stepped in and meadeated so the deal could get done, it was quite a mess and I'm actuly supprised he's still around trying to scam people :cryyy:

I think the line:

when confronted about a previous incident shows you everything you need to know about this guy's attitude and morals.

EDIT: and presents a strong case for keeping all information alive and unedited, too.

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is bid padding?

besides the misleading laser output, what else is shady about this? Maybe I don't entirely understand the multiple eBay account thing.

I believe in a fair trial, and I would like to hear potatorage's side of this story.

It's basically having more than one account, and shill bidding on your own items to get the price higher.

Well, this morning brought a message from potato, apologizing, saying where he had gotten his specifications at, which was http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/argon-hene-dpss-lasers-sale-47737.html#post648099]here, and offering to remove the listing. I told him I had no control over his actions, but that it would probably be in the best interest to remove the listing on eBay. I should have added that he should consider sending the laser to someone to get metered so we can finally be 100% sure as to the power of this laser.

So wait he is just copying the specs from Laser_Ben's thread, to sell his laser?
I thought he had his own LPM? Also if the viasho was from jacks GB, didn't they all get metered by jack?

Kinda sucks he would try and scam people here at LPF. He has tons of rep, and has been a member for a good amount of time:(

Yes I would like to hear from him also I doubt he will tell you everything though, but I'm listening ;)
Go ahead potatoporage tell everone that dosn't know why some people think you are a scammer. Tell them how you offered a repair service and duped a man into sending you his expensive laser, and you destroyed it !
your most recent escapade has all ready been uncovered even though some people don't understand that dosn't make it any less aginst ebay rules ! if you won't follow there rules why should you follow the rules here, would you have an answer for that ???
I must say here and now IMHO your kind is a threat to this board, you have shown your true colors on three occations and I for one don't like what I see ! I have seen nothing that suggests you are a stand up guy !

Man do I ever wish MFO was reading this, Problem would be solved  MFO come back !!!

If the bid price is not going high enough, the seller jumps in with one of his own alternate accounts and bids the price up. If the price does not get high enough for the seller, he then can "buy" his own merchandise and then either just acccept the small loss of the eBay fees or ask himself to "cancel" the auction.

Then if he goes ahead and actually leaves himself positive feedback, a whole new level of deception is acheived.

Not only unethical, but against the rules.

Peace,

The laser originally went from CNI to Laser_Ben as part of a payment, and Ben metered and sold it as such. Potatorage used to have a meter, but it had to be sold to...it's all in the thread linked by digital_blue a few posts up.

wow... looking how much rep potato has, someone may have been scammed thinking it was legit! This is bad, I noticed that the one he's selling on ebay, has about 20 bids, so someone is going to be sad.

This is my point exactly I find it not in the best interest of this forum that a person of his caliber should have that many rep points, It's probly part of the reason the man sent HIM an expensive laser to repair I mean realy would you send your laser to someone with 0 rep points to get it repaired and that is just how many he deserves right now as that is about what he knows about lasers.
And I have no problem starting a thread asking he be put at "0" rep points.
He needs to earn them I don't know how he got so many in the first place I bet through friends passing them back and forth.
Is a thread needed or a simple note to the moderator.

I purchased the laser from Laser_Ben. I tried to sell it using his specifications. Prototype thought I was blatantly lying, so he started up this thread. I'm not trying to scam anyone, just trying to sell the laser. Once a few people started investigating the things I've been doing on Ebay, they started criticizing my actions (Which I understand are wrong and should be fixed) on Ebay. And then Digital_Blue brought an old topic (which was resolved) and I don't know where this will go next.

I'm sorry for my actions on Ebay (and LPF) and want to apologize sincerely for the things I've done. If I've personally wronged you, you deserve a personal apology. Please PM me for one. I understand if you would like to vocally criticize me, and I would like to accept your criticisms to help better myself, since I was wrong in my actions. However, I am still learning, so these mistakes won't repeat themselves. If you have any suggestions on how I can better myself, please PM me and I'll try to fix myself.

I have pulled the listing due to suggestions to do so.

Again, I am completely sorry for the problems I have caused the forum and the prospective buyers of the laser. If you have been wronged by me, please let me know so I can make things right. I value the company this forum has brought me and would like it to continue.
Thanks.

[EDIT]
Hey Potato.... haven't you learned yet that there are over 10,000
members on LPF... and one will surely see what's going on... anywhere..

As sincere as you sound, are you only sorry because you were caught? If your auction wasn't discovered would you still have removed it?

You were trying to make a buck at someone else's expense; you should be apologizing to the bidders, not us... As for the tread I "brought up", it goes to show that you haven't "learned from your mistakes". It should be in your best interest to let this be the last time something of this nature happens...

I try to learn from my mistakes. I'm not trying to deceive anyone and make a quick buck out of them; I simply wanted to get what I thought was a fair price for the laser. I thought that ben's numbers would remain accurate since I only lightly used the laser since I bought it from him. Again, I'm deeply sorry for the trouble I have caused here, and I strive to fix the problems I have caused. I will change my selling practices on ebay, since I have learned that falsified bidding is not needed to get a fair price for my items.

I understand I was wrong for trying to cover up my deceptive ebay practices but I didn't want to cause trouble. I now know that I have caused more trouble this way and am sorry for that as well.

@Jerry I'm sorry for trying to charge unreasonable shipping fees to canada. I was unaware that shipping to canada (and mexico) is significantly cheaper than shipping to other countries. I had flat rate international shipping so I made sure that if I had to ship to an international country, I would not lose money doing so.
