Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

I am definitely not paying for bwhollen to try and fix this. I think I may just try to solder it, as it is not impossible, and if nothing else is wrecked it shouldn't be too hard, I do have knowledge in the actual operation on an iron.
I would rather send ti to someone, but sending internationally is expensive, and there is at least some chance that something is burnt out.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

@Jimdt7 it seems you're rather keen to get your hands on it...

@upperlevel I'd recommend sending it to a reputable member of the forum who can give a diagnosis and possibly effect a repair. It will be up to you and bhwollen to decide who pays the shipping and repair work, and it is NOT fair for the reputable member to be left out of pocket by either of you - make sure this does not happen. If you don't want to do that, I'd suggest taking better photos at the very least, and posting them here for people to try and diagnose.

Bwhollen, Did you use anything at all to keep those pins from shorting?

Yeah, I don't think I will send it to Greece anyway. And I will post more pictures tomorrow.
I do want this issue to be resolved, but if I am left with a laser that costs a lot to fix because of a bad build I WILL be filing a claim.

Pontiacg5, no i did not. I never had and have never had a problem with it. As long as the wires aren't twisted together by it being taken apart.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

I actually find that comment comical fro some reason.
So this laser can never be unscrewed? Seems like a crappy laser to me, what if I were an experienced member who wanted to do some upgrades?

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

If anyone in Canada can please contact me so I can maybe send it to you and save a bit of cash? Maybe you can also comment on the build quality of bwhollen's lasers?

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

You can unscrew it. But you have to do it without twisting the wires.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

Based on both the picture and the report, I would say this is shared responsibility.

The twisted and broken wires are the result of not knowing how to disassemble the laser. The wire was NOT broken when it arrived. Shaking the laser would not have caused such an intermittent light

Now the reason it needed to be opened was that it had a short or poor connection somewhere else in the laser.

Shaking the laser will cause a poor connection or a short somewhere to cause intermittent light.

It should have never been sent out with the short or poor connection present. Even if it was handled "roughly" by the postal service, the connections should have been strong enough to survive such treatment. This is a hand-held laser NOT a gas laser with external mirrors.

@ BWhollen -- Did you really tell him to shake it some more to get it to work? :undecided:

Peace,
dave

P.S. -- If you want me to look at it for you, I will as well.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

Only one question here. If someone can give a definite reply to my question, this case should be considered solved. IS THERE ANY WAY THE DIODE COULD LASE WITH THE PINS SOLDERED TOGETHER? Loud and clear.

I am in alberta, but even if it costs that much less to send it id be happy.
And to kiyoukan, the cost is not based on distance but the crossing of borders.
