Re: Electron

i read almost the whole thing

i also saw *nothing* worthy of ban

It's gone... there is a What Did I Miss thread in the vets section about it, but not the OP.

Too late :(

What was Pontiacs post about?

Cliff notes... Pontiac took apart Electron's statements from the previous thread involving rhd's dispute. With the gist being that electron is a scammer, and stuff sent to him without tracking never seems to get to him.

Along with 3 or 4 "F" bombs dropped and an "I don't care if I get banned" statement.
I know pontiac has some previous sour grapes with electron, but if you're going to sell diode that are very ESD sensitive and ship them wrapped in cotton (a material that will store, build up and release a large positive charge) then it's to be expected that some if not many of the diodes will be DOA due to ESD damage that could have been avoided if they were packaged correctly.

From what I remember of the thread, while it was here, Pontiac mentioned that this cotton story wasn't accurate. I don't know anything about the whole diode/cotton issue, but I know that he DID address it, and commented that the diodes weren't just wrapped in cotton.

Did you read his post before it got taken down?

If you did, if you read it, and you're posting here, trying to re-introduce this "cotton" issue, an issue that has already been clarified (though the clarification is now removed) then I've got to ask whether you're just trying to stir up trouble?

Re: Electron

Pontiacg5 stated that the diodes were shipped in anti-static bags WITH the leads on the diodes soldered together.

The "cotton" was added for padding outside the anti-static bags

Peace,

You can re-read until the cache is updated... Cleaning up the language would have been a good idea IMO.

Bootleg2Go stirring up trouble?? Surely you jest :D

Actually 'cold soldered' was the term used, im assuming this meant a wrapped piece
around the pins..

Hi daguin,
I'm sorry, I didn't read that they were soldered in his comments, as soon as I started seeing all the F-bombs, I stopped reading right there.
So if cotton was only used as padding for the package and outisde of the ESD bag, then that's ok.
I'm not sure about the "cold solder" statement that was just mentioned and what that entailed.
I will say that those "cold heat" soldering irons should never be used for electronic components. Those should be used on nothing except wiring that does not make any kind of connection to sensitive electronic components.
The "cold-heat" soldering irons will fry ESD stuff in nothing flat.

I apologize to pontiac for not understanding how the components were packaged or prepared for shipment.

There was nothing wrong with his post IMO.

He must have complained about the ads.

Re: Electron

Pontiac, I believe, meant that he used a cold solder joint to avoid heating the diode very much.
I received a few of Pontiac's 445nm diodes with cold soldered leads in anti-static bags & cotton padding. Arrived safe & sound, No issues at all.

I very much appreciate Pontiac providing a ton of those diodes At Cost to the community, asking nothing for his time. He also used his Own money to continue providing them At Cost after Paypal froze his funds. Didn't even know about that at the time.

Wish the OP was still in the cache.

The didoes were not packaged in a static bag, that was part of my complaint to him about the way he shipped them. In fact I added a static bag to my return shipment to show him how to properly ship a diode and he even posted in the other thread that I returned it in a static bag. I bet that was a surprise because had he done that, the diode would have arrived alive instead of being in a bubble envelope (static) and only cotton. He told me, as I already posted, his PP account was locked, so file a claim and I'll get my money back. I also purchased several times since then from him, never told me he was mad, until One & half Years later he jumps in on the bandwagon.

Perhaps you should wait until he gets back so that he can
defend his position...

One thread was enough.

I pulled down the OP here to stop this.

Pulling an argument from a closed thread to a new thread is NOT acceptable

Leave it lie.

Peace,
dave
