These used to sell HeNe tubes way back in the 80's/90's, but no longer. They do carry a few modules, has anyone experience with their lasers?

Oatley Electronics

I am picking up a few TEC's and controllers from them, wondering if I should try a DPSS module or two (50mW).

Their green laser modules are pretty expensive compared to other distributors. Don't know whether this is due to quality or just typical Australian prices. Also, it seems that they don't really know what they are talking about, which can be a bad sign.

Well I just ordered a 30mW and 50mW green. At their prices I can afford to test them out. I was getting a few TEC's from them anyways for the lab builds I am doing with modules from DX (still a week away) so why not try them out (and help absorb the postage costs).

I am going to try out their TEC driver too.

Their prices seem excessive, even going by Australian rates.

I think they're the first I've heard of in Australia selling modules.

Jaycar do a 10mW 532 for $100. I picked up two for $70 from their wholesale arm Electus.

Obvious ripoff is obvious.

They can get away with it if they're the only ones selling the damn things, espceially after the new laser laws.

This company is approx 30 mins drive away... hmm might pay them a visit soon. Thanks for the link will look into the TEC's. By any chance are the TEC drivers adjustable?

Yes, by trimpot. The board may operate for cooling OR heating (choose 1). The board may operate in one of two modes, cyclic on/off like a fridge or proportional (to error) which is preferable for TEC in my belief. Manual: http://secure.oatleyelectronics.com/files/K140Bnotes.pdf

I think I might design something better with a H-Bridge so that the TEC may cool or heat as required...
