Alright guys, here's the short version. Long version will be after everything is resolved, which I'm confident it will be.

The laser did come DOA. Clearly aside from being crushed, the box was also used in lieu of a soccer ball or something.

Fortunately it was a very very easy two second fix with a soldering iron.

Unfortunately the laser was not at all as advertised. (No copper heatsink, no g1 lens, and way below advertised power.)

***I don't think I was mislead intentionally, and the situation is being resolved.***

I'll post more details once everything is settled, but again, this wasn't any kind of scam, just a new guy making too many assumptions about what he had, and selling it as such.

I did stop by the post office to speak about the package and what to do since the laser did technically came in DOA and frankly I wanted to have all my bases covered.

Spoke with the postmaster for the main branch of my town. In a rather polite way he basically told me "Sorry, too bad, no insurance nothing we can do."

So I am very displeased with USPS. Definitely going to always require insurance on any of my own sales to people for items over $100.

Nah. What's done is done. Better to move on with no hard feelings.

Besides, it's not USPS I have a problem with, it's the government that created it.

Seems like whenever something seriously wrong happens, all politicians ever do is say "sorry" and none of them ever get punished in any meaningful way. USPS polices seem to be a fair reflection that attitude.

Here's a good example: http://money.cnn.com/2011/12/08/news/companies/corzine_mf_global/index.htm?hpt=hp_t3

I don't care whether he's a democrat, a republican, or a freaking martian. Bottom line is on his watch, the company he ran, "misplaced" over a billion dollars.

IMO the f*cker deserves to be in jail, in solitary confinement in a 4x4x4 foot cell, with a temperature of 60 degrees, randomly flashing lights and annoying music. I bet with those "enhanced" interrogation techniques he's remember very quickly what happened.
