You said the host is like a brick, so if any damage occurred I wouldn't expect it to be more than a short, or disconnected wire.

I said the host is built like a brick depending on how its built inside.;)

Ive rebuild 6 of these so far.

There is Little chance that the host got crushed. The driver will not be damaged Most likely as its protected by the host but the diode can suffer from in packed shock witch will kill diode 90% of the time depending on hard the hit was..

Iam hopeing its fine too.

Um... it happens to me, before, but the item was not damaged,
But I think shouldn't put open it, maybe ask the post office what you should do first ?

But from what I see, it's just a heavier box put on top of yours to crushed the box... I think the laser should be alright.

How can you have a box that you know a new laser is in, and not open it?!?! The force is strong with this one.

Yes, good luck with--would guess it will be OK -- the package damage is not too severe---if there is packing material inside it should be fine.

The giant WE CARE just serves to aggravate one more.
Hope they determined its positively received by the majority of people.
Good luck.

I thought insurance was against if it was lost or stolen ??? If they damaged the package they should pay ??? That's the way I see it

I wouldn't worry about the diode being broken at all. Their internals have very little mass, so even if you dropped the host right onto concrete, the diode should be fine. I'd be more worried about water damage if anything.

Agreed, but then whats to stop the postal worker who broke it from just throwing it away to avoid having to pay for it?

TLDR..

If it had a required signature... Did you sign for it after seeing
the damaged box...

If not.. you should have refused the package and USPS would
have needed to send it back to the sender...

There was no signature confirmation required. It was simply left at my door, exactly as you see it in pictures. Delivery confirmation only.

I stopped by post office today, and they basically politely told me to f*ck off.

Refusing delivery is also not an option since signature confirmation was not required.

I'll update the thread and what's going with more details, but there are now other issues as well, since I opened the package and examined the contents.

I'm working with the seller and want to give him the chance/time to do the right thing before posting what's going on.

yer killin' me!

c'mon G give us a hint!!

must be less than good or he would have not needed to wait so.....

GOOD luck!

I got a laser in the mail-opened it up at the PO- popped in a 18650 only to see a dull reddish blob on the PO wall.

It was supposed to be 250mW 532. I was not happy-- wrote the seller. discoveed his shipping guy sent my 532 to a guy in London(who loved it and refused to send it back-cancelled his order for the IR) and I got his IR,, who knew?
I had never seen an IR laser. Glad iI did not look down the 'Barrel'- All endeed well.
just took an extra week. & I got to keep the IR,, who knew?
